After his first professional victory, they decided that Reiji should take a break and let his body get back into the swing of heats- the stress from the competitions and the scent suppressants he was required to take had done a number on his hormones. It’s actually recommended for omega athletes to take a year-long break between major competitions in order to keep their reproductive and emotional health in good shape.
During his first break, Reiji’s heat and Takeru’s rut overlap. The condom breaks and Reiji gets pregnant with their first baby. Reiji won’t talk to Takeru for a week while he decides what to do. They end up keeping it.
Reiji isn’t vocally demanding during pregnancy, but Takeru can feel through their bond that his mate wants something. Reiji loves it.
During the last few months of pregnancy, their families and friends become increasingly involved in their lives. Takeru works more and more so he can get paternity leave once he needs it, so Riku and Shizuma take it in turns to cater to Reiji’s needs. Takeru’s eighteen older siblings take it upon themselves to absolutely pamper the living hell out of Reiji and make his life as easy as possible.
