Great movies you may have missed.
So I’ve watched A LOT of movies over the years, and finding a good one among the many forgettable ones is becoming harder as more content becomes available.
You’d think considering how hard it is to get a movie made nowadays that the only ones to make it through the process would have to be pretty great right? Wrong.
Quality content is not what people look for, that’s why there are so many great movies of the past (old hollywood era) and so little new ideas now, plus many ideas have already been made, but still in a changing world there is so many new subjects to explore that may have been considered taboo or uninteresting years ago.
So here are the ones that stand the test of a couple of years in my memory without looking at a list.
1. I, Tonya (2017) (okay this one got a lot of attention when it came out, but it’s so great I just have to include it!)
The story of Tonya Harding’s rise and fall, portrayed by the amazing Margot Robbie. Give it a watch and you will see how amazing it is.
2. Chef (2014)
A restaurant chef gets fired after getting into a viral internet fight with a critic. Tired of going unappreciated will his family life falls apart, he opens a food truck and and goes around america with his son. An amazing story about father son bonding, and of course, food!
3. Good Vibrations (2013)
Based on a true story, good vibrations is about a man who sets up a record store in 1970′s Belfast. It’s a solid movie with great reviews.
4. Rush (2013)
Based on the true story of racing drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda’s rivalry it’s got some great action but also a wonderful story.
5. Alan Partridge, Alpha Papa (2013)
If you have ever heard of steve coogans iconic role, you’ll know this is worth the watch. A little crazy but so funny!
6. Life of Pi (2012)
Based on Yann Martels best selling 2001 novel, Life of pi tells the story of a young Indian boy who gets stranded after his cruise ships sinks, with a tiger! This story is heart wrenching and features great acting filming. It is one of my favorites.
7. What we did on our holiday (2014)
A family go on holiday to scotland to see their relatives. The holiday unfolds into a strange adventure.
8. Woman in gold (2015)
Helen Mirren plays a relative of Adele Bloch-Bauer, or the subject of Gustav Klimts Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I. The main character hires a lawyer to help her get the painting back from a museum many years after it was taken when the Nazis invaded her home. It’s a moving story and so worth the watch.
9. Sing Street (2016)
A teen in the 80′s forms a band to impress a girl.
10. The Hundred Foot Journey (2014)
Another food film, the hundred foot journey tells the story of a family who owns a restaurant in India. After a disaster happens they relocate to a small town in france to make a new business, but indian food in France is not the most popular thing, especially with a Michelin star restaurant just across the street.
