If you are or know a teenager (ages 14-19) who writes speculative fiction, I recommend looking into the Alpha Writers Workshop. I am a 2010 alum, and I can honestly say that the people I have met through the alumni network have changed not only my writing career but my life.

I also still remember learning from Timothy Zahn about how the sounds of words changes the mood of the story. "O"s and "U"s sound more horror-y than "I"s and "E"s. The more you know!

Welcome to the official Tumblr of the Alpha Young Writers Workshop! We are a twelve day science fiction, fantasy, and horror program for teenagers ages 14-19 that takes place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The workshop takes place in late July and applications are open for the month of February.
