Alpha’s on creature duty

The council has spoken.

RRAAA ALPHABELL!!!! ( Tiny tag: @ourfatherwhoartinhell , @artificialmoth !) they are CHEESY. And they are in LOVE!! I refuse to hear otherwise.

It was a strange welcome when Cowbell joined the group on tour, just all smiles and waving. Just excited to be out of the abbey and experience something he never really "qualified" for. Just staring out the window and always asking questions. Never really bothered the others, they've been around Bell for a LONG time. But it's such a new light to see their elder in such a new state of pure wonder and curiosity, especially to Alpha.

Alpha's always been curious about Bluebell to be honest, just her mannerisms and how he engages with the world on such a different view than other ghouls. How he's more human just like Special. They've always gotten along, never had any issues but it's just... Something about being stuck on the road for such a long time, together, that Alpha starts feeling a bit weird about it all.

He's suddenly more aware of her. Of how she smiles, his stuffy laugh, how she clings to Terzo's shirt when in a new place, how when he takes his hearing aids out he seems SO much calmer while looking out the window. Just how Bell seems to be an entirely different person. His staring being noticed by the others and teased about it, just getting eye rolls and shooing them away.

"Big dog crushing on the sheep? Aww!" Omega just snickering before Alpha kicks him off the couch in the lounge.

Alpha does NOT have feelings for Bluebell. He's adamant about that!! Just because his face warms up every time they make eye contact, just because he felt his heart go a bit faster when Bell held his arm as Terzo was unavailable, just because she fell asleep on his chest while watching a movie and he adjusted to where her head wouldn't fall, just because he's daydreaming about the null ghoul almost constantly, doesn't mean he... Has... ... Fuck.

He's head over heels, isn't he?

Bell being the first one to make Alpha's fire go blue for the first time...... Just admiring as they're bunked together in a hotel, Alpha cupping a small flame and Bell carefully reaching forward to touch it and oh man... How her eyes lit up as it turned to a gentle blue, dancing over his fingertips before he pulled back. Alpha is blushing HARDCORE. They just keep eye contact for a minute, Alpha hesitating if he should lean forwards or not. Just as he's about to, Aër knocks at their door and Alpha combusts all over again. (Aër doesn't hear the end of it from the others for interrupting them trying to matchmake.)

Finally he gets the balls the last week of tour, Bell so burnt out and tired but happy and eager when Alpha asks him; "Would you like to go to dinner with me?"

Bell's never been good at holding glamour for long let alone being in super crowded spaces (they learned that VERY quickly at the start), but Alpha's aware of that! Just orders something to go at some little diner and walks to the park, just the two of them laughing and talking — even to the point Bluebell starts rambling about a new pack of buttons she got from Terzo a few days ago. And he's ALL for it. Just watching with admiration as she's info dumping about all kinds of buttons she has. 2-holes, 4-holes, snap buttons, you name it! Just going on and on about what they're best used for and rocking back and forth.

"What's this button good for?" Just shows his flannel and Bell gets close, just admiring with a big ole smile.

"It's a shank button which means it makes everything go more flat, more smooth, and provides a pretty look!" And she just looks up, cheeks red before finally mumbling out. "I think it works well... You really do look pretty.."

And Alpha just sighs. "I think you look pretty, too... All the time, really."

They're just staring before Bell reaches his hands up, fingers so gentle as he runs over his stubble and jawline. Alpha finally taking the moment to lean in with such space first just in case Bell pulls away. But he doesn't. So Alpha finishes it. Holds her hips so gently before pulling back and they're both just a smiling, laughing mess before Bell literally jumps on Alpha, just kissing him over and over again. They just walk back hand-in-hand, a smile that can't be removed. The entire ride home they're inseparable, Bell just tapping his chest before pointing at her mouth, indicating for a kiss.

"If I see them do it one more time I think the bus is going to end up Valentine's themed." And Aër just gets a pillow thrown at him by Omega.

Alpha loves Bell AS Bell. Not as anything else. Loves her when she's deaf, loves her when her hearing aids are in. Loves him when he's overstimulated, loves him when he's under stimulated, loves him when he's content. Loves hearing his rambles about buttons and weapons. Especially loves watching her small sheep tail just go 100 mph almost all the time.

Bell loves him just as much. Always getting excited when he stops by to visit her and literally picking him up to hug. How he'll get all embarrassed when Alpha does a pushup with her on his back. Just making gifts for him CONSTANTLY that he shows off soooo proudly, specifically when Bell hand carved a burning rose for him. Always whiny when they're away but bursting with joy when he comes back and flops into Bell's arms. Just slowly tracing down his scars from the pits and some topside, kissing each one and purring.

They're so good at taking care of each other's needs, too ;-;. Alpha knowing when to not touch or warm up his hands to help center Bell down. Bell knowing how to calm Alpha down when he has rage fits. How Bell will let Alpha hold his tiny tail or run fingers through his fur, just as much Alpha lets her run her fingers over his horns and jaw again.

Ghouls ships and how they love

Alpha and Cowbell : Rebellious Love

To everyone, they were outcasts. But here, where nothing was pure and everyone fought for a place in the spotlight, their love was a haven.

The story is simple. Terzo only wanted a back vocalist. What he got instead was Cowbell. A tall, half-hunchback and wary ghoul with zero to no training for what he was summoned for. And because Terzo couldn’t sweep his mistake under the rug, he had to incorporate him into the Project in some way . 

But this 'mistake' only put the band in a bad light in the eyes of the Clergy. Cowbell quickly became a topic of discord among the other ghouls, who were all so desperately trying to secure their position amidst the chaos. Omega had already been fired due to his little affair with Terzo. They all knew that the next one to cause issues would have their name on Imperator’s list for an urgent replacement. They were even ready to sacrifice their brotherhood and infernal loyalty to avoid it.

Alpha should’ve run the race too. He should’ve fought for his place like the rest of them. They were all too busy pushing each other down for survival to care about a confused ghoul, and he should’ve done the same.

But Alpha cared. 

Someone had to.

Cowbell was quite unsettling. He had a bit of a staring problem, a disturbing addiction to noisy things and a blatant absence of social skills. But Alpha wasn’t bothered by any of it.

At all times, in all places, they sought each other's presence. Alpha because he had noticed how easy it was for Siblings of Sins and ghouls alike to pick on Cowbell when he wasn’t around, and Cowbell because Alpha's respected status guaranteed him shelter from the rest of the residents.

Just as Alpha was the only one willing to offer protection, Cowbell only trusted him. 

While they all avoided him, he became the only companion Alpha deemed worthy to have by his side. An honest and loyal one, with no dangerous ambition for glory, no need for rivalry. Just a deep loneliness he needed someone to wipe away. 

Alpha could do that, too.

He’d come home from his long walks with little gifts, things he’d found on his path that he knew Bell would appreciate. Colored stones, small animal bones, broken pieces of painted tiles… They made Cowbell happy. They made him like being here, despite all the others’ attempts to make him leave. Everyone else was fighting for a golden seat and some privileges, but he was smiling at the most ordinary things. Even in the band, when he had been given the smallest of roles, Cowbell had been grateful.

When Cowbell began to offer little artifacts in exchange and Alpha found beauty in them, he realized that something had shifted in him. The desire to race had faded a long time ago, but now it was completely gone. Maybe he was becoming a bit odd as well, like Cowbell. They were walking on the same path together, opposite to everyone else. That was how everyone looked at them from that moment : two strange and silent figures who only had words for each other and weren’t involved in the current businesses. Parallel lives. Marginals.

There was a point when Alpha felt defeated. For a long time, he expressed resentment towards the other ghouls for fighting so much and losing their friendship for the sake of glory. But when they all inevitably got fired from the band, all replaced and sent to the shadows, it was clear who was really at fault. 

Alpha didn’t care about losing his place, he had felt the need to resign and leave in peace months ago. Choosing to care more for Cowbell than for his career had already been a major step toward the exit. But it hurt to see that all their efforts, all these conflicts between the band ghouls, had been in vain. Even if Alpha had tried his hardest to keep his position, his investment would’ve been pointless. Within the ranks of the Clergy, there was no winner. 

Anger settled in, and he spent countless nights wrapped in indignation. But Cowbell never expressed frustration with him, never told him to endure and swallow his complaints. On one occasion, he took Alpha’s hands to his face and kissed them, cutting short the other ghoul’s rants and soothing him into quietness. Cowbell just took it all in until Alpha had nothing more to say and all that was left was silence and relief.

It was disarming, that feeling of letting go of anger and finding only love instead. 

This place they made for each other is where love outgrew everything else. Nothing else mattered, not rage, not glory. Not even order and hierarchy. They cultivated disobedience and wrote the rules for themselves.

Had it been known that they were more devoted to each other than to their superiors, they would've been chased back to Hell in no time.

Came the day when the Emeritus brothers were murdered and panic ensued for most ghouls. 

Alpha, on his part, saw an opportunity. 

He took Cowbell’s hand and led them to desertion, out of Nihil and Imperator’s sight. 

Rumor has it that it's them... all these ghost steps on the roof, all these noises in the walls, the ominous shadows that are seen moving in the forest, under the moonlight… 

Who knows why they haven't been caught yet ? They’ll have to come home to the Pit eventually. 

Come to think of it, if the Unholy Father cared about this disobedient love, He would’ve caught them Himself a long time ago. Who knows, maybe He’s even bought them a few years.

Just.... Thinking about their little "sessions."

At first it started with them cuddling and Bell just grinding against his own hand. Hey there! I am, yes! Just haven't had a whole lot of time for art lately 😭

Thank you for saying so! Bell is my absolute fav to draw and I will admit I've taken a lot of artistic liberty with that character lol but I'm really glad people seem to like the design

One of these days I'll get around to making some sort of reference key for questions like this, but here are a few early explanations I've given about them, mostly when I was still feeling out the story. A lot of my story has changed/I've added or taken out certain elements but i think it's fun to see the full picture

At this point i have a pretty concrete idea about how it all unfolded, so to give a very abridged summary: they were both extremely powerful in the pit, connected very deeply to ancient power. Bell particularly. In their joint interest of obtaining more power, they became allies, then in the process of doing so, bound their power together and became mates (for lack of a better term) they had a brief and glorious rise to the top together as equals and lovers before Bell grew more ambitious and Alpha began to grow wary. Ultimately, Bell's conquest had to be put to and end and other much older ghouls (mainly Omega) stepped in to put a stop to it before everything unraveled into chaos. Alpha, who was also on the hook for much of this upheaval, struck a deal with Omega to bring Bell down in exchange for his own partial immunity. Because Bell was essentially trying to ascend to Godhood (or whatever the hell version of that would be lol) he was nearing unstoppable, and certainly impossible to kill in the traditional sense. So they had to do a ritual (a very brutal and painful one for all involved) to essently rip Bell apart and strip him of all memory and power, which leaves him as the Bell I usually present in my art. He has fleeting notions of who he was, impulses and some glimpses of memory, but he's too scattered. He can't draw himself back together, and he's still under the watchful eye of Omega, and Alpha, who is always grappling with his own betrayal to Bell. They're still bound together, and Alpha (because he was never fully honest about how deep his involvement with Bell actually was) does still hold some of Bell's power within himself. It's always aching to get back to Bell, as is Alpha.

They are messy and divorced and in love and tragic and I love them lol

Like I said I eventually want to write something detailing these things for reference, because I have a ton of lore built up in my head about it, which then spills into another, later story about Rain seeking Leviathan's blessing and casting himself back into the pit to hunt for "fragments" of ancient power (which end up just being Bell's discarded/hidden power.) It all ties back into itself lol I am a madman when it comes to lore. Anyway, sorry that was a lot, I hope it answers some questions!

Alpha who instead of giving flowers, he gives little "crow" trinkets. Just showing Bell the little items he's collected for him; definitely buttons on the ground, an old key that's broken from the storage room, tiny crystals that he got from Omega's desk. It's always wonderful to see how he crafts them into bigger works

Bluebell who's started picking up what Alpha liked to eat and always making sure that her and Spec's kitchen has it. Different varieties of meats and vegetables, and ESPECIALLY cashews... Alpha fucking loves cashews and one time Special ate some and Bell got SOOOO (light-heartedly) mad over it

Alpha knows Bell is on the spectrum and always asks if certain things are okay first. There's never, ever, any surprises and everything is planned out so she can understand everything better. As much as Alpha would like to have spur of the moment dates, having Bell be comfortable and not on edge is worth a LOT more to him. He can always ask for tomorrow :D

Bell who knows Alpha is still sexually active and needs a release, as Bell is asexual, perfectly content when Alpha has intimacy with others. There's been a few times she's masturbated in front of him as that's as comfortable as she'll be, and Alpha will never be annoyed or upset, nothing. They have their "outline" and that's perfectly fine with them

#1 couple that understands needing space, boundaries, and seperate rooms. Sometimes Alpha needs cool down time, sometimes Bluebell needs his own too! Touch can either be everything or make it worse, so they always ask each other first before touching. Also!!! Seperate bedrooms and one shared, just so they can still have their own areas and one combined

After showers Alpha has to hold up a towel to 'protect' himself as Bell will literally shake herself out and all that fur? PHEW.... But, Alpha's done it a few times too. They're both guilty of it LMAO

Alpha when he gets invited to the family dinner for the first time is nervous as all hell, sweating. The Emeritus, Omega, and Special just staring SO hard.... Alpha just keeping his eyes down as he can feel Bell's brothers just glaring at him. Omega sympathizes cause he was there too at the beginning shjejxj
