#MyHairLossJourney💞👑 It's not easy for many to be comfortable in their own hair or no hair in my case. I've always had long pretty hair. It's naturally curly. I grew up in a society where straight hair was more acceptable or braided hair. I've been called white girl or Oreo as dark as I am. My hair fell out twice before but that was due to chemotherapy. Come August it will be two years of me having a shaved head due to Alopecia. I threw a massive blood clot from my groin to my ankle in my right leg. I had my hair twisted. After surgery, morphine and several other IVs, my hair was falling out in my center by the handful. I sat in my room depressed and ashamed for two weeks. My daughter who carries my name said ma just shave your head. I refused at first. So she cut her dread locs and said ma see you won't look bad. I still refused because I no center this time. Eventually, I called my brother and asked him how do you shave your head and how did you feel when you lost your center. He was reluctant to answer at first because my hair was down my back. I hung up and then called back on duo video. He was like wow what happened. I explained that it was the medicine, the RNY GASTRIC BYPASS , the massive blood and probably heredity. He said go get some Nair and go for it. At this time, I was on a rollator because of the damage that the DVT blood clot had done. It took every ounce of strength to go to CVS. My aunt who's like mom to me brought me a short wig or hat as she calls them. I wore wigs for while. In April of 2018, I met this guy who said why are you covering your sexy bald head. It's cute. He was like you're more than your hair. First, I wore scarves then one day I went for it. Now, I feel so free and confident. #AlphaThalassemia https://www.instagram.com/p/By2UGw4hX0-/?igshid=162d0m5dbz44l
This photo was taken the other day. I was actually feeling ok, sadly that didn't last long. Between the heat outside, the body pain, and the fatigue from being outside reaps havoc on my body and I end up paying for it for days. No matter what I'm grateful for these good moments because they are very few. I'm grateful to be able to look back at pictures like these and see that it wasn't always horrible. #gastroparesis #gpreality #chronicillness #invisibleillness #nocure #fibromyalgia #alphathalassemia #gastricbypass #gastricstimulator #formertubie
