Whenever I see an old car out in the middle of nowhere, I wonder: how did this happen? What confluence of forces caused this car to be abandoned here, at this very spot? This one, out in West Texas and shot properly through with bullet holes, led me down the same path. How did it come to be here way out in the middle of nowhere? Where is the rest of it? Did it just up and die at this very spot decades ago and the missing portions get cannibalized whenever someone needed, say, an axle? Somehow I like not knowing the answers to these questions. It gives me space to make up my own stories.
