So today was the second day in a row that my college canceled class. We just had a crazy blizzard, and the days off were justified. It also timed out pretty well because I just started to feel sick on Monday, and it gave me a chance to rest up and hopefully avoid the worst. Now, here comes the part where I start complaining.
I’ve been spoiled in terms of shitty weather. I’m used to living in places where within a day of snow, the roads are plowed. If it was a particularly bad snowstorm, it might take two days, but the roads would get plowed. That is not the case in the middle-of-nowhere Nebraska. The snow is over, it’s been over; the roads are not plowed. The roads and parking lots will not be plowed in time for class tomorrow. I doubt they’ll be plowed by class on Monday.
There is no where to park on campus, meaning there is no reason to drive to campus. So tomorrow morning at 8:20, I’m going to begin walking to get to my 9 am class. It’ll be cold, I’m sure I’ll get more sick, and I can’t wait to see how quickly my boots and pants get literally soaked in the snow. For this, and so many reasons, I cannot wait to be done with this place.
