OK actually i love answerig stuff like this so thank u for asking ! :) in my au thing i think maybe he was like ? a gift ?? like he (mac) is really popular nd well liked by a lot of people, so he recieves a lot of random shit from other people ??? uhhh like how fans give stuff to celebrities idk .
maaaybe lemonade (the guy who made phone) , instead of pitying mac for being a loser and having no friends was just one of macs MANY fans ! they made + gave phone to him so he could be like an assistant to him (he has enough friends already lol) to like help him out with whatever he wanys/needsand mac isnt one to refuse free stuff ! also he likes the idea of bossing some random guy around (hes an asshole if u havent noticed yet)
but thru some kind of malfunction (orr maybe he just got sick of macs shit after some time i havent decided) phone ends up genuinely just DESPISING him . like hes always kind of been a little annoyed by mac??? like huh this guy is.. an asshole . but then after like a particularly bad day hed probably just snap . mac isnt used to people who dislike him (hes liked by basically EVERYONE, hes used to people treating him nicely no matter how mean he normally is) so hes somehwat actually intrigued by him! like he enjoys messing w him seeing what makes him tick
he has less 'free will' than regular phone in the sense of that he cannot refuse mac's requests . if mac asks for a milkshake well damn hes going to complain but he cant refuse . his body like moves on its own, its what hes programmed to do after all . which is also the reason why he couldnt just leave forever even if he hates the guy lmao
i do have something in mind for what happens in voo16c with the two of them but hmmmm i wanna keep that a secret for now idk
