While I know it sounds like Jay was tampering with Zane's controls without his permission, this is absolutely something Zane would get in on to mess around with Cole and Kai.

I mean, he talks like this in Seabound of his own volition, and downloads a whole detective persona in Prime Empire, so I'm pretty sure he was fully on board.

Plus, the perfunctory eyes squint really adds to the whole pirate aesthetic.
