some melancholic essence consecrates his words, as if it stalks him like the water stains on hotel carpets. they’re in the building now, their path tainted with the fabric of past travels. fingers twitch as his hands aren’t sure where to find themselves -- they’re held out in front of him, not far from his hips  .  .  .  fumbling, awkward. he stutters a moment but issues nothing of comprehension from his lips. some breath pours from him  .  .  .  he can feel his lungs compressing.
