Disney Prince Rant
I love Disney movies, but right now I’m in a fighting mood and I just feel like letting out some pent up frustrations I’ve had with Disney for a while-
Instead of a Disney Princess, where’s our Disney PRINCE who has just as much character as those princesses?? Who’s just as important? Who is an actual developed person like those princesses? Where’s our Disney prince being the MAIN CHARACTER of the movie???
I want a prince as the main character, and I want him to show other boys that they don’t have to be big, strong, and brave to be important or to be respected or to be considered “man enough” to society. I want him to show them that they can be sensitive. They can have doubts and insecurities about themselves and their future. They can feel lost and like they don’t belong. That they can feel or be handsome, or pretty, or cute, or anything else in between, and that it won’t determine how “masculine” they are. I want a prince who doesn’t HAVE to be with a princess, or even anyone! I want a prince who maybe just develops a friendship with literally any other major character! I want a prince that can show boys that they can be just friends with girls, and it’s not weird for you to not develop a romantic relationship! I want a prince to show boys they don’t have to have a relationship in general! They can just have friends if they want, not have any kind of romance at all, and there’s nothing wrong with that!
ALSO, IF POSSIBLE, I WANT BETTER LGBT REPRESENTATION IN THEIR MOVIES!!!! All they’ve ever done is just throw in LGBT minor characters and subtle scenes that can just be scrubbed away in censors or looked over easily! How about an LGBT character BUT AS A MAIN OR MAJOR CHARACTER??? OR SOMETHING THAT ISN’T JUST SUBTLY IMPLIED???? HEY DISNEY, TAKE NOTES FROM NETFLIX. Dragon Prince did it better than you ever could! Take your super minor and implied “LGBT” characters and shove it! If you even have to tell us through Twitter posts that a character is LGBT, instead of doing a better job with the character, don’t even bother because it doesn’t count as you making an actual effort. That’s just you wimping out because you’re afraid of people against the LGBT getting mad at you and not wanting to watch what you made. How about you actually catch up with the modern times, this isn’t the early 2000s anymore.
