18) were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? what were they?
Good 0mens tbh, for like. the long term. the voice that’s my default narrator is the same voice that i used to read good 0mens for the first time it’s just?? from beginning to end?? iconic?? ‘an angel who did not Fall so much as Saunter Vaguely Downwards’?? that was like from the character page?? the fuckin… character page?? I CONIC. also i had to buy the book in secret because my parents r super conservative cath0lic // chr*stian and the copy i had has the little devil logo on one side and angel logo on the other and they’d be like hMMMmmMmm so i bought it very Stealthy like and that experience also affected me tbh
(also to an extent artemis f0wl bc it’s like baby good 0mens in terms of narrative style and when i was younger i thought artemis was cool n shit but the older i get the more i look at artemis like …. son ….you have to stop)
23) any obscure life experiences that you feel have helped your writing?
tbh i’m not really sure if it counts as obscure? but weirdly i think the fact that i did a majority of my grocery shopping in college after midnight? like inhabiting a liminal space at a transitionary time to do extremely mundane things like.. that vibe…. i just think that’s the lived experience that’s helped me ground what would otherwise be OOC/cracky material into more tame fics and in my original works that mundane-but-not-really vibe is something i always aim to achieve
also i think the fact that i was friends with some Wild Characters including a boy who used to have my house key and would sometimes come to my house to make us sandwiches bc he didn’t like his roommates & many others and i drank with these people on the regular
