“Inko, But- What about… what about us?” He was whispering it, looking back into her eyes. “What about everything we’ve been through?” He looked so desperate. So desperate, and so small, swallowed whole by the couch cushions.
She swallowed thickly. “What about trust?” She said at last, now looking away herself.
“You know I never wanted to hurt you.”
“And what about me?” She turned back then, the barest hint of a fire in her eyes. The audacity of this man. “What am I supposed to do?”
Hisashi waffled for a bit before sighing. “So then I’ll leave, but I’ll miss you.”
I’ve been on a HSM kick for some reason, and while I was rereading this part I realized why that ‘what about us’? line stuck in my head. I mean, that’s basically what the scene was, wasn’t it? XD
