[text] we did. After you told me about your universe's Lucy, I really came to appreciate her. And that she didn't go down that path in mine.
[text] I bet she was a wonderful companion. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit jealous.
[text] I'm glad you got to show her the universe. She deserved to see the stars.
[text] of course it's not. if I can't talk to myself, who can I talk to? [text] we were sightseeing and got mugged. They pushed her into the wall and fractured her skull. She was sixty three. Been traveling with me for the majority of her life. [text] I should probably text you more than every thirty years.
[text] She travelled with you for that long? That is impressive.
[text] You must have had some wonderful adventures in that amount of time.
[text] It happens and I know it does but you're right. It doesn't get easier and nothing can change that. I just need to wait for time to heal it.
[She could have just left it at that, but the curiosity was killing her.]
[text] If it’s not too intrusive of me, may I ask what happened?
[text] the girl I was traveling with. You forget how delicate they are, humans. How they get older and change. They get weak.
[At this news, she could feel tears spring to her eyes. The last time she'd talked to her alternate self, she was travelling with a version of Lucy. The thought of losing that lovely woman was difficult to imagine.]
[text] I am so sorry.
[text] No matter how many times it happens, it never gets any easier. And I know there's nothing I can say to make it better.
[text from AltAndi] Do you ever get terribly sick of losing people?
[She stared at the text with a mixture of surprise and resignation for a few moments before replying.]
[text] Yes. Every time it happens.
[text] Have you lost someone?
"Well I prodded her into leaving the planet. That was a start, especially after her rough start in time traveling." AltAndi replied. "And the Doctor! What is he up to in your universe?"
"I can imagine. I would guess that the end of the universe is not a very pretty place to visit," she said with a sigh. "I'm glad you convinced her."
"Which one? I know several different versions of him." She found this question to be complicated, given the state of the multiverse and recent events. "I'm good friends with a Doctor who is living with a Master that I consider to be family. That Doctor and I got into a bit of trouble recently. He lost some of his memory." She still felt guilty about that, even if he didn't blame her for what happened.
"I recently met a different version that I've been spending some time with. We're getting to know each other. And then I ran into the Doctor from my universe the other day on an abandoned spaceship. That was a surprise. I don't often meet anyone who knows me from Gallifrey. It was an interesting experience."
She gave the woman a searching look. "What is he up to in your universe?"
"Saxon was her married name but she changed it back when she left Earth." AltAndi replied. "Very good at conversation. Also very blonde." She said. "Are you friends with her?"
"Yes, I am. We're good friends. She has a daughter and I visit them quite often. They've become a bit like family for me." She smiled at the memory of her last visit. "I'm glad you know her. I've always thought she and I have a lot in common. I hope you've prodded her into trying a lot of new things."
