The Drive That Started It All. I'll never forget the first time I headed east on Jefferson to Grosse Pointe across Alter Road. It was 2005 and ever since, the 12 blocks from Lakewood to Lakepointe have been central to my study of unequal opportunity in America. Couple video bumps, but listen along as I explain why Alter Road matters so much to me and my Detroit story.
