Personality:
Introverted and happier living in a fantasy world than dealing with real people. He has had a massive weight gain fetish since he was a kid and it’s all he really cares about, so much so that talking to others is hard since he doesn’t have any other interests and he doesn’t want them to know his.
He has a short temper, every inconvenience is terrible and anger inducing. He is very arrogant and feels like he’s the only smart one around and everyone else is dumb on purpose, if his way to solve a problem isn’t right then there’s no other way.
Story:
In his early 20s, Alter got a job at a popular gaming company as a programmer on their newest project, a massively open world roleplaying game played by uploading your consciousness into the digital space through a new VR helmet they made.
Alter takes a copy home to work on, and decides to make his own private world to play in and test things, choosing to take on the form of a tall purple demon, after awhile he figures out how to mod it to include weight gain aspects. Firstly just with body modifications, then physics, and eventually whole scenarios he made up that play out as a mission.
One day while playing one of these missions, nearing the end when he was a massive blob of fat, the power to his house went out and kicked him out of the game. When he took his headset off, he found he actually had taken on the look of his character and was also massively fat! After getting the power back on he rebooted the game and finished out the scenario, exiting the game normally and seeing he also went back to normal.
Using this to his advantage, he would play games up to a point, then exit and be fat IRL for awhile, before going back into the game and finishing up. He took to just hanging out and being fat on his days off, and when he had work from home days, he would just stay fat.
Over a long weekend, he got a little crazy in the game and became the biggest he’s ever been by a large amount. The power goes out once again during this moment, and he comes out of the game a blob of a man, unable to move an inch, and unable to restart the power. He spends a couple days in agony before a co-worker, sent to find out why he didn’t come to work, comes in and sees him nearly taking up the whole room.
While the co-worker is in shock, Alter yells at him to turn the power back on, after complying, Alter finishes his game quickly and goes back to normal.
The co-worker talks with Alter about what he’s discovered here, actual DNA alteration could change the world! But Alter is super embarrassed and tells him to leave, shutting down any conversation. The next day the co-worker approaches him in the office break room and tries to reason with him again, telling Alter if he doesn’t share the code he made, he’ll regret it. But Alter being completely overwhelmed with embarrassment just knocks him down and runs back to his office. Later in the day, Alters boss angerly barges in and fires Alter for an abusive email that was sent out with his address. Unable to prove it wasn’t him, Alter is forced out.
Overcome with shame, Alter decides to escape into his fantasy world for the night, after making sure the generator is plugged in and the food/water supplies near his bed are full. He loads himself into his game and starts to play out a story scenario, when he’s already at a few hundred pounds it suddenly starts glitching. His form changes from a tall purple demon into a short purple imp, but his weight doesn’t change, causing his clothes to rip off. Afterwards, there’s a large flash of light and the next thing he knows, he’s dropped into a town square and surrounded by other people.
Realizing he was nude and people were staring, he gets up and runs away, hiding by squeezing into an alleyway that barely holds him. He sees he still has his programming wrist computer on him and tries to leave, but the game won’t let him leave.
Trying to figure out what to do next, and stuck in the alley, he gets a voice call on his computer, upon answering he’s greeted with his co-workers voice, who informs Alter that they have hacked his system and will keep him trapped in the game as punishment for not sharing the code. Alter points out, if he’s in the system, he has access to the code. The co-worker agrees, but says it seems just like any normal code, and can’t figure out why it’s special, so he wants to observe Alter and see if they can figure it out that way. As a gift, he spawns in some clothes that barely fit Alter and leave with a parting message, that Alters private scenarios have leaked into the real game, and now others will be subjected to his fantasies.
Alter now has to play the game to survive and hopefully get out and get his revenge.
