Hi I was wondering if you could write something for always second choice where Criston is having a moment with his only daughter like she’s barely five and she’s just likes to follow him around whenever she can and so if you can add where Criston and the reader are just absolutely lost in each other and Harwin walks in on them!!
AN: Hi, I hope you like it x
“I imagine your mother is looking for you.” Criston spoke softly to the little girl toddling next to him. Her giggling was the knight’s only answer, which had his face breaking out in a soft smile for her. Criston’s fingers itched to touch his daughter. To rustle her locks of hair so much like his own.
His own eyes were darting around the corridors that were thankfully deserted. The royal library was not a crowded place. It was his daughter’s favourite place - and yours too. That thought alone had Criston smiling. “Mama’s busy.” The Princess hummed; her eyes widening as ever when the door to the library was opened.
“Come on then, little lady.” Criston hummed. The Princess only giggled before quickly moving into the room. At least he could spend time with her, the knight thought to himself. Her little fingers reached for the closest books. The peaceful moment was something he was enjoying a little too much.
Gently, Criston placed his daughter to sit on the table. He stayed close as she began to move through the books in delight. “Is this your favourite?” Criston gently asked; his fingers brushing the one she held. He lent against the table as he fought against becoming more familiar with her.
“What is your favourite?” She softly asked of him; so much like her mother, Cristont thought to himself. A smile tugged on his lips as Criston gently reached to place a lock of her hair around her ear. Another moment he mirrored with her mother only this morning. “I like history.” Criston finally admitted.
Her smile only brightened before her complete attention was captured by her book. It was one of Criston’s favourite days of his life.
~
An hour had passed as he watched the young Princess begin to yawn. “Are you wanting to retire to bed?” She stubbornly just like her mother, Criston thought as she shook her head. “I see she’s hiding here.” Criston couldn’t stop the smile coming across his face as he turned his head.
“Princess…” The knight softly announced. He couldn’t keep his eyes off you as your baby girl excitedly tried to remove herself from the table. Criston’s hands reached for her and gently placed her down. Your arms opened for her to race into them. “Have you been good?” You whispered.
Your little girl only hummed; grabbing at your hand for a moment. You played with her fingers with a soft smile. “How about you run along..your brothers are looking for you.” You whispered down to your little lady. Her giggling had you both smiling as you watched her begin to run away down the guarded halls.
Criston’s eyes found yours when you finally turned around. “Hello…” You softly whispered; cheeks flushing. Gracefully with your dress flowing behind; you walked closer to Criston. Your hands reaching for his own. “I have missed you.” You whispered up at him; your hands trailing his chest now.
Criston hummed in agreement as he rested his head on your own. His hands slowly moved up and down your arms. His heart was racing at your mere touch; that you could feel under your hand. Gods, these moments were few and far between now and there was nothing you could do about it.
His hand gently cupped your face as his thumb brushed against your cheek. A soft smile is coming over him now. Your fingers brushed through his locks for a moment before you finally worked up the courage. Your noses brushed together too before your soft lips captured his own with a moan.
Gods, it felt so good to be back in his embrace, you thought to yourself whilst reaching for his hand. His arms wrapped around you and brought you impossibly close. A giggle escaped you as you locked eyes with him. “Do we have time to see each other this evening?” Criston whispered.
“Hmmm…I think I could squeeze you in.” You teased him. His smirk lit up your already bright eyes. “Oh is that right?” Criston hummed, his hands slowly moving down your body now. His hands rested on your arse now as he began to palm you. You could feel him hardening against you.
Your lips parted for you to answer when you heard familiar footsteps coming your way. For a moment; you panicked. Your eyes widened as they locked onto your knight once more before stepping away. His hands are falling to his sides now. It was only a moment later when your husband entered the room.
“Harwin..” You whispered; a tight smile coming over your face but he would not know the difference. He never did, you thought to yourself. You fought against looking back over your shoulder at Criston as you reached for Harwin’s hand. His larger one taking yours with gentleness.
“I thought I might find you here.” Harwin hummed in that soft tone you used to adore. Gods, you had loved him, you thought to yourself as he began to play with your fingers. You wondered if he did this with her. “Of course.” You giggled; hoping to lighten the mood as you knew Criston’s was darkening.
His arm wrapped around your middle and kept you close. You wondered if it was the guilt that had Harwin being so gentle. You wondered if he even had guilt. Gods, how stupid you had been, you thought to yourself all the while smiling so prettily as you listened to his every word whilst he guided you to the door.
“Are you coming to the feast tonight?” Harwin whispered into your ear as you looked subtly over your shoulder once more. Criston’s eyes never once left your body as he watched you move further away from him. His heart in his throat as his hands formed a fist. “I will think about it.” He heard you answer.
The mask you had perfected over time continued to stay in place as you walked the hallways with Harwin. The looks given to you by the servants you passed by had your heart skipping in sadness. Gods, how had you never seen it before, you thought to yourself as Harwin babbled for the both of you.
