Hey tumblr peeps. I’m a few days slow posting about this. I finally decided to release the project red tail I was working with. I gave him a lot of time and it was an uphill battle. He struggled to retain things despite training, and after 3 solid weeks of progress where I once again started to have hope, he forgot everything overnight forcing me to start back over at square one. I just didn’t have the heart for it. It wasn’t fun anymore. So I released him. He always lacked confidence on larger game like rabbits and squirrels, but he loved mice, so I picked the best rodent spot I could find and let him go. I was sad to see him go. I put a lot of work and heart into that bird. But not every bird is cut out for falconry. I’m happy to turn focus back on Nel and continue growing his confidence and fitness.
