#alwaysreadtheplaque By the time we got to #Woodstock....... a few years back we did a #Catskills road trip from Sleepy Hollow to the Finger Lakes to Cooperstown and a lot inbetween. One stop was the site of Woodstock which has a big #historicmarker but if you poke around a bit you’ll also find the last bit of #YasgurFarm still owned by the family. #ontheroad #upstateny #woodstock50 #woodstock50thanniversary (at Yasgur's Farm) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1OOX7Hl4Jh/?igshid=ea0la3gguims
#AlwaysReadthePlaque “To those citizens of the United States who at the call of humanity laid aside their vocations to become soldiers in the Grand Army of Liberty. This memorial is dedicated 1918” . . . #HistoricMarker at the “Sweetheart Memorial” at #FortDevens in Ayer, MA. Established in September of 1917, the original #CampDevens served as training grounds for American soldiers mobilizing for #WorldWar1. The Sweetheart Memorial was a popular spot for couples to say goodbye before shipping out. It’s said the wall was constructed from rocks brought by wives and girlfriends from all over who made their way to see the men off. #newengland_igers #massachusetts_igers #igersnewengland #instahistory #historical #ww1 #worldwarone (at Fort Devens) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqBXnAWAv5E/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ijjisr61ejs8

#AlwaysReadthePlaque “At this site #PaulRevere landed on the night of April 18, 1775 to begin his midnight ride” . . . Many walking the #FreedomTrail will miss this small plaque by the shore in Charlestown, a block or so before the #USSConsitution the plaque is on the ground behind (what was last I checked) an abandoned warehouse. Revere was rowed across the Charles from the North End the night of #April18th1775 and this marks the spot he landed to begin his ride. . . . #igersboston #igboston #igersnewengland #history #historical #instahistory #oaulreveresride #americanrevolution #charlestown #charlestownma (at Charlestown Waterfront, Boston)
