Tyler stared at Caroline for a second, his eyes locked on hers. His heart felt like it was failing. He would give up almost anything to stay with Caroline, and be happy for the rest of his immortal life. Be he wouldn’t. He wouldn’t be happy. Not this way. “Care, don’t you see. I can’t stay, I can’t be with you like this. I’m not going to live my life in fear of some immortal dick, and when he decides we can be together and when he’ll take it back. I don’t live my life by anybody’s words. Not his. And….and not yours.” He said, a finality in his voice. He really did love Caroline, more than he could probably say. And that is why he was doing this. She deserved a hero, and he needed to be on.So he closed the gap between them, placing his hand on her soft cheek. He gazed into her eyes, a sparkle there that drew him in from the beginning. His rough, chapped lips met her soft, lush ones. It wasn’t the passionate kiss of the epic silver screen. It was a bitter sweet kiss. He wasn’t sure if he was imagining tasting her tears or not, but as his tongue traced her lips, he knew if he didn’t stop now, he never would. So with every ounce of control he bitterly broke their kiss. His face still millimeters away from hers. “Goodbye, Care.”
