To Live by the sword | Knights
It was high time that Arthur did some training with some of the knights. It was one thing to have the memories of knights and past events. It was a whole other to know exactly how to utilize it. To put that physical strength and energy into it. Arthur wanted to ensure that his people would be safe. Or as safe as he could manage.
Originally he was going to start with a moment with Dipper, seeing as Dipper asked a bit about it, but then Al had chimed in and now he found himself on a snow covered field at the edge of the forest setting up some targets for them to practice swinging at. He’d brought wooden swords as well, because he had no intention of letting them start by training with actual swords. That was asking for something to go wrong.
“Alright. Before we get started I’d like to start by giving the rules. Stick with them or we stop training immediately. Because swords are tools, they’re not toys.” And though he knew that Dipper and Al were both adults, sometimes excitement could go to people’s heads. Arthur refused to let it be at the cost of their health.
“Ground rules: don’t point anything at anyone unless actually instructed, check your surroundings carefully before you do anything. Be careful sheathing and unsheathing your sword when we get to using it. Always do it slow. I know that film likes to rush it, but that can run the risk of you cutting yourself if you’re not paying attention to where your hands are.”
Arthur already felt like he was giving a speech, but the safety rules could not be ignored. “I have more safety things, but those go with when we actually use the real swords, and I’d like us to begin with practice ones. Do you have any questions?”
