The Maserati Quattroporte AM 121 was commissioned by the Aga Khan, designed by Pietro Frua, and built by Carrozzeria Frua. Presented first at the Paris Motor Show in 1971, any plans for this car to become a second-generation Quattroporte were scuppered by Maserati’s new owner, Citroën, who had their own programme for the future of Maserati’s four-door sports sedan. A second AM 121 was built for the King of Spain
