Almo and Pat
Soviet Sport newspaper, May 6th, 1989.
Vyatcheslav Ivanovich [the captain of the soviet national team at the time], at what point did you find out about the dissapearance of Mogilny?
It happened in early morning of May 4th. The team was gathering near the bus that was supposed to take us to the airport. Everyone was there except Mogilny. Naturally, we asked the hotel workers: do they have any information about this? They told us: no. We asked the guys — no one knew anything. Sergei Fedorov, who was Mogilny's roommate at the time, said that after midnight [Mogilny] was in the hotel room and in the morning he was gone. [sergei's words:] "I thought that he left to take his luggage outside and didn't worry too much, I was convinced he'd be back any minute..."
