Ooh, you're writing a novel?! What's it about?
Yep! Technically, I already wrote it, but there is still a little work to be done! Fey Publishing is set to release it on the tentative date of October 31, 2014!
Here is a blurb from the query letter I sent to Fey Publishing several months before I signed my contract!
Thirteen-year-old Paisley’s village is swiftly destroyed mere days before her birthday. To make matters worse, the Adaya fairy’s wings are seared off when fleeing the chaos.
The gift of flight is one that every fairy in Painite Forest has been granted, yet they find themselves curtailing that gift in order to survive the unstoppably deadly beast they call Ama'rel. Narrowly escaping Ama'rel's grasp, she meets Dorin and Zephyr - Gefen fairies who would be her enemies under normal circumstances. Finding nothing left in her village, Paisley reluctantly joins the Gefen and embarks on a journey to Astradoma to beseech the Astradoman military for their assistance defeating Ama'rel. Together, they brave the dangers of a dying forest that, without its fairy caretakers, has begun to wither and withdraw into darkness.
Along the way, Paisley and her Gefen friends meet other forest creatures - the Nefarite and Pooka, to name a couple. They stumble upon a forbidden book of magic known as the Tome of Concoctions. They believe that with this book, they can put a stop to the tyranny of Ama'rel.
They quickly learn that Ama'rel isn't their only enemy. The Gefen and Adaya must put their differences aside in order to survive, and there are years of bad blood between the fairy races. The Nefarites are becoming increasingly anti-fairy, and when the elder, Mel’kay, learns Dorin has been using the book, she takes it and banishes them from her village. With the help of a disturbed Gefen, they’re able to find the lost city of Vardinon and prepare for a battle they feel is their destiny to fight.
Paisley learns there is a power much stronger than the Tome of Concoctions, and this is only the beginning...
