I have seen somewhere I crew member (I think) made a post about how Zach Levi "cried on cue"

Does that mean we could have gotten crying Eugene!?

I do! The original was posted by @amandaliart 

And he did! But the take was bad (or something) so they didn’t use it. We know it was going to be in the finale, and though we don’t know exactly when he was supposed to cry, I think it was at the end, after she heals the kingdom and Eugene hugs her and says, “You did it, Sunshine!” He sounds teary there, but it wasn’t the crying take.

Hey all!! Guess what? Tomorrow we have the honors to record with Amanda Li!

For all of you who don’t know, Amanda is a talented background designer who has done work for the new season of Samurai Jack, Uncle Grandpa, Monsters Vs Aliens as well as freelance for various companies like Dreamworks Tv, Disney Tv, and other projects at Cartoon Network. She is currently doing visual development for an unannounced Dreamworks TV project.

The REALLY cool thing about Amanda, is that she actually graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelors in ARCHITECTURE and was actually an architect before switching to this field!

Hi, where's the idea of Eugene crying come from? I haven't seen any trailers for the show so I'm not sure what's happening, but I've seen the series so far

Because Amanda Li was there for Zachary Levi’s final recording and said he cried on command.

And he hasn’t cried yet, so... Eugene cries in the finale.
