Trying to separate a 73yr old southern man from salt is like trying to pull teeth with pliers.
So my father in law has been diagnosed with early stage cirrhosis of the liver.
It's not related to drinking or any thing like that (he hasn't touched alcohol in almost 40 years) hes just old and his liver isn't processing like it use to causing extra fluid retention in his legs.
The Doctor's answer to this is to cut out salt.
Any one who has spent any time in the southern USA knows just how much of a staple salt is in cooking here.
The fact that 3/4 of his diet for the past 20 years has been fast food hasn't helped anything.
So I'm helping him learn to read a nutritional label and restructure his entire diet to limit salt intake to 500 grams per meal Total. The average can of soup has 650g of salt in just half of it.
This is not going to be easy.
The fact is that while a lot can be done to help. Magick is not a fix all. You cant just set it and forget it. When it comes to your health or the health of those you love you have to get active and involved to make a difference.
