DOTA 2 TOURNAMENT AT AMA COLLEGE MAKATI AMA Computer College-Makati recently organized an inter-school DOTA tournament for interested Grade 10 students from public and private high schools. DOTA, known as Defense of the Ancients, is a multiplayer online battle arena for the video game “Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos” and its expanded mode, “Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.” DOTA pits two teams of players against each other, where each team is set to destroy the opponent's Ancient which are heavily guarded structures at opposing corners of the map. Players use powerful units known as heroes, and are assisted by allied heroes and controlled fighters. The scenario is highly team-oriented, and players level up their heroes to carry their team to victory. DOTA allows up to 10 players in a five-versus- five team structure. For this tournament, the stand-alone DOTA 2 sequel was used as software using its latest Steam version. The game mode is Captains Mode. Seven (7) teams consisting of 5 participants per team joined the tournament held at Infoex.net, a gaming shop located in Brgy. Bangkal, Makati City. Participating schools include Bangkal High School, San Isidro National High School, San Antonio National High School, San Joaquin Kalawaan High School, Mariano Marcos High School, Paco Catholic School, and Sta. Clara Parochial School. Members of school teams who registered for the tournament must be currently enrolled students of their respective schools. The team who destroyed the opposing team's Ancient will be declared winner in a best of 3-game series. The championship game will be held on November 25, 2016.
