„Outrider Amber, reporting!“ now a distant echo in the hallways of the headquarters of the Knights of Favonius.
Strange, was it always this dim here?
Your uniform boots were the only thing accompanying the haunting echoes. Together they were mixing into a beautiful melody, taking you back to all the moments you two spent together.
From dining at Good Hunter to scouting and clearing out hillichurl camps. But the fondest memory you carry must be all the gliding championships you two participated in.
Once upon a time, while you were still gliding with her, you felt the winds of freedom lift you above the clouds, accompanied by the merry laughter.
But the storms that once made you soar the sky are now holding you down, suffocating you and bringing back that disgusting smell of blood that still clings to your clothes and hides under your nails.
That day when you last heard those words was the day the gliding champion got swallowed by the very freedom who’s name she flew below and above.
Standing atop the cathedral roof, you spread your fake wings and took a step forward, ready to become the number one gliding champion in Mondstadt.
That was the first step, one of the many that you yet have to gather the courage to make, but it was a progress and by the sad smile Eula was giving you, it was a good start.
So slowly you started locking the memories of her smile, of her laughter, of her bad cooking skills, of her everything into your heart.
But the seasons have changed and the time has passed, flaunting its freedom.
In fact, seasons had so much freedom and flow that they changed for dozens of times already. The weather became so much harsher, not holding back on slowly eating away everything in its path. But the memories still stayed locked and protected.
You don’t dare count just how much days were lost to radio silence from the knights and citizens. If you had to guess, you would say at least three long years have passed. And with so much time on your hands, you finally finished the outrider uniforms Amber created a vision of in her head all those years ago.
After finally adding last touches to both uniforms, you climbed the stairs to the cathedral. The static in your ears got louder with each step closer to the graveyard. You closed your eyes and hoped that it would go away, cursing yourself for locking away the bad memories of the day of her fall as well.
It was a cloudy day and the outriders made their way to the suspicious camp in the middle of the forest. But even after repeating the process of clearing so many out, neither could be prepared for the pyro abyss mage and the damned exploding barrels laying in wait. And just like that, there was a flash and then the static ringing in your ears, the salty taste of metal on your tongue, a blurred vision of a red lump on the ground in front of you and the wretched smell of blood in your nose.
Just like that, the once cloudy day turned into a full-on storm as you were holding the body of your fallen partner, the mage and hillchurls disintegrated into nothingness by the time other knights came, and the last breath long wasted.
Taking in a deep breath, you felt that smell of dried blood before the smell of the signature Outrider’s Champion Steak! before you opened your eyes in front of her grave.
There was no need to exchange any more words, your tears once again staining the clothes of the amber-eyed girl, just as they did many years ago from various reasons.
You placed the neatly folded uniform on her grave alongside the gliding champion badge and a Baron Bunny. This was the last offering you had to make before you could take the final step and do just what she did.
One more era of outriders has come to an end, but a new one was starting in the same moment.
Pushing the doors to Jean’s office where she, Eula, Lisa, Traveler, Paimon and Kaeya awaited you, just as you asked them in your letter that you sent earlier that week.
You stood in a perfect stance, your uniform clean and your outrider badge shining. The words that next left your mouth after silence for so long shocked all six attendants, but by the comforting smiles they gave you, you understood that this was a step that was bound to be made, no matter how pitiful it may’ve been.
There stood an outrider, saluting in the office, their words a new echo in the once again bright hallways of the headquarters: “Outrider Y/n, reporting!”
it’s a little bit sad when you think the one that would stay by your side forever turns out to be the one to leave.
pairing: amber/gn!reader (romantic)
category: bittersweet + modern!au + falling out of love + implied breaking up
note: @xiaophobic happy birthday, here is ur angst<3 !!
love is a fragile feeling.
amber should’ve definitely known that by now. of course she should. one might compare it to a flower that you grow and take care of and then it blooms beautifully, but the moment you start to neglect it, it slowly starts to die.
she wasn’t really expecting it to end like this — hell, she wasn’t expecting your relationship to end at all. but now you’re here, standing in front of her and she feels like she’s falling. you still look as beautiful as always, yet there is a gentle sorrow swimming in your eyes and she knows you want to say you’re sorry.
“don’t say you’re sorry,” she whispers, her voice cracking, “don’t say you’re sorry for doing what’s the best for you. don’t be sorry for putting your well-being first,” she says.
she’s still looking out for you. of course she is. you guess some things never change, but a part of you wants her to scream at you. wants her to be angry.
you’re sorry. you’re sorry for falling out of love, because you tried so hard. you’re so sorry, because you don’t know why it happened.
the question is, is there any way to keep the flower alive forever? of course there isn’t — it’s not possible. every one of them will wilt sooner or later, no matter how hard you try and care for it. does that mean there isn’t any kind of love that would stay till the end?
perhaps there is — amber desperately wants to believe there is. there has to be. she wants to hold onto that thought, that maybe it just wasn’t the right time. maybe, just maybe, it could’ve worked out in another universe. or maybe even in a couple of years. but not now. she knows it’s not gonna work out.
“so... that’s it, huh?” she laughs quietly. there is a kind of pain that in that sound that tears your heart apart. you love her, you still do — but it’s not the kind of love it was before.
there is no use in trying to force a flower to bloom again when it already wilted.
she’ll miss you more than anything. of course she will, but, if that makes you happier, she supposes she’s a little bit happy too. no matter how much it will hurt.
You haven’t seen a dead body for a while, but seeing it in front of you — as you thought — brought you no emotion. It did not awaken disgust nor fear. It was simply a study material; a clue for catching the killer that master Diluc had to capture, so as his servant, you were going to do anything to make sure that his wish comes true.
“Diluc, I would be happy if you did not bring civilians here.” A man with blue hair and in fancy clothes said with slight irritation in his tone. You rose a questioning eyebrow, but expressed nothing towards him. You knew that Diluc was going to handle this man by himself without the need of your interference.
“They’re needed. Just let us do our job.” You got curious as to why red hair did not elaborate on who you were, but knew better than to question.
You silently walked forward and approached the body. You looked at the wound between shoulder and neck. It was not big of size, but it was deep and forcefully ripped apart the muscle tissue and skin. Diluc mentioned on his way here that this was the only victim with a smashed face, so you assumed that others died from blood loss, meanwhile this man had an instant dead when his skull got crushed against the stone wall. This told you that the killer had major strength and speed, and acted... desperate. Like they were in a hurry.
Once you finished your analysis you stood up and cleared your throat to catch the attention of two men, “I have finished my work here.” Diluc nodded at you to continue, “I must conclude that this is done either by a beast or an abnormal case of a human.”
“A beast? Surely if there was an animal around someone would have noticed.” The blue haired male commented and you shrugged.
“Abnormal case of a human? Elaborate.” Red hair furrowed his eyebrows and rubbed his chin while thinking.
“The killer is of great strength and speed, and knows their way around the city. To be able to escape the crime scene this well and leave no traces behind tells me that this is most likely a common civilian or someone who knows their way around well.” You explained, and as the two exchanged a glance suddenly another voice joined your conversation. It was a woman with long dark brown hair and with clothes in red palette.
“Maybe it’s a ghoul?” She asked, and the blue hair almost jumped in surprise form her sudden appearance, “Abnormal human case... Strength and speed... And knows around town. Maybe someone is actually a ghoul!”
“A ghoul?” Diluc questioned aloud, so you decided to explain.
“A ghoul is a creature similar to a vampire, but slightly different. A vampire is someone who’s born that way, meanwhile a ghoul is someone who had been turned but was originally a human. Since murders started happening three months ago, Miss—“ You looked at the girl.
“Amber.”
“Miss Amber must have thought that someone got turned into a ghoul three months ago, and has been committing these murders due to hunger. Which is why there seems to be no particular motive behind crimes such as pleasure or revenge.” You finished your report; and Amber instantly nodded in agreement to everything you said.
“Yes, yes!” She reached for her bag and pulled out a book that she must have borrowed from the library, “Ever since I found this body, I could not stop thinking about how weird it looked! So I did a lot of research last night — which was when I stumbled upon ghouls.” She flipped the page where it showed an illustration of a man-eating monster devouring its prey.
“Are ghouls capable of eating human food?” Diluc asked, and Amber hummed.
“Yes, but it does nothing to them. They can taste just like us, but once hunger hits, they might go crazy until they feed on human flesh.” The girl explained, which was when you got a bit suspicious.
“All of this information is written in the book?” To you it looked like she knew a bit too much about the topic. You crossed your hands over your chest and kept your ears open to everything that she said. You had to pay attention.
“Yes! Well.. I also heard a bit of tales as a child.” She nervously laughed while scratching the back of her neck, “But I don’t think I can be any much help.”
“You helped great deal.” Diluc praised her — at which everyone’s eyes widened in shock except yours. You simply knowingly smiled.
“T-thank you, master Diluc.” The girl blushed a bit while looking away, “By the way! Who are you?” She was in a second in front of you.
“My name is Y/N, I am a humble servant of master Diluc. Pleasure to meet you, Miss Amber.” You politely bowed, and blinked in surprise when the girl extended her hand towards you. In hesitance, you shook it, extremely confused, “I’m merely a servant, you shouldn’t—“
“What are you talking about! Just because you’re a servant doesn’t mean you deserve less respect from me. This is Mondstat — we’re all equal.” Amber proudly smiled while putting both of her hands on her hips. You slowly softened and melted into a smile.
“You are very kind, Miss Amber.”
“Aw, stop it! I barely did a thing!” The girl chuckled, “Captain Kaeya and master Diluc are going to do some boring document stuff now to get a warrant for further investigation. While they’re on it, how about I treat you to a meal?” You gasped, because this was the first time in your life that someone else was offering you a gift, “Sticky Honey Roast is the best dish in this town and my all time favorite! The Honorary Knight Lumine and her companion Paimon loved it, too! You must try it.”
As she chatted away, you waited for Diluc’s silent approval to you leaving as you followed behind the girl that seemed to me more shiny and cheerful than the sun itself. The whole day the two of you spent walking around the city, helping some locals, tasting the national foods and buying souvenirs. You’ve never experienced so many events at the same time in a single day — but you truly enjoyed yourself.
-
“So.. Did you like today?” The two of you were sitting on one of the stone pillars in the gardens of the cathedral while looking up at the night sky with billions and trillions of starts.
“I enjoyed it very much, Miss Amber. Did you have a good time?”
“Of course I did!” The girl instantly replied, “If master Diluc will give you more weekdays, we can hang out like this more often. We could go on a picnic... Or maybe to a dancing event! Oh, oh — how about the cooking game show that’s happening in a month—!”Before she would get way too carried away, you interrupted her.
“I’m afraid I’m needed at the Dawn Winery a lot more than you assume, Miss Amber. I must cook the dishes for master Diluc, clean the bedroom, do the laundry and help him organize him work.” As you explained your duties, she frowned in confusion.
“Aren’t there any other workers? Why are you doing everything?”
“Master Diluc likes the fact that whenever I clean up, I put every item in places that he places them in, and not elsewhere. He says that after I clean it’s easy for him to navigate around, unlike with other maids.”
“He must trust you a lot. You two seem very close! Donna would be jealous.” You were unfamiliar with the name at the end, but felt too lazy to question.
“Do not assume anything wrong, Miss Amber. But I must admit that I care a great deal about master Diluc. He extended a helping hand when I required it the most, so I shall forever be thankful.” There was silence for a moment.
“You’re an amazing person, Y/N. I am happy to know that I am your friend.” At the word ‘friend’ you froze in shock and your eyes flew wide. Never in your whole life someone had been your friend. Sure, you had a family before — but never a friend. The word cut your cold heart like knife.
The Traveller looks up at the active Ruin Grader. The both of them had been overconfident in their dodging skills after besting a Ruin Hunter, and they both got lost in the cold caverns of dragonspine.
“Amber? Amber! No, no please wake up!”
Kaeya stood beside the Traveller, his cocky mask melting off in favour of showing concern. Sucrose rushed over to check Amber’s pulse. Kaeya looks back up. The Ruin Grader had left them. For now.
“I.. can’t find a pulse..”
“No, no no no no. This is my fault..”
Sucrose’s ears twitched as she looked at the Traveller. “It’s not..”
“But it is. I asked them to come with me to Dragonspine, I should have gone alone..”
Jean approaches the two. “It’s all okay.”
“As courageous as Amber was, she was just as reckless. Her.. passing is none of your faults.”
ive started a nuzlocke genshin account, and sadly amber is the first ive lost, in the depths of Dragonspine’s caverns. this is a retelling of how she’d died
Hello Lovelies!! This is the second part to Closed Doors. Hope that you like it!!!
genre: Angst, fluff
Warnings: Amber being a badass, some violence
Summary: After you were taken away from her, Amber makes it her mission to find you and make you hers. She’s going to rescue you, if it’s the last thing she does.
Sweat dripped down Amber’s face, her muscles screamed their protest to the over use, but her mind was still sharp. She threw a one, two, uppercut, hitting the punching dummy she was focused on. She was going to find you, before you had to get married to whatever dumb fuck your dad was forcing you to marry, and she was going to take you away, far away, or she was go die trying.
“Amber,” her friend, Eric Nam, called as he watched her, concern growing with her obsession over you.
“What?” she grunted as she threw a sidekick, turned and threw a spinning round house.
“Stop,” he said, getting in front of the dummy. Amber barely had time to stop her punch from hitting his face. “She’s probably already married, Amber. It’s been a year.”
“Y/N would put it off,” Amber said, her eyes narrowing. “They would put it off as much as possible.”
“It’s been a year,” he repeated.
“They love me!” Amber screamed, her face turning red. “They fucking love me!”
“I’m not saying Y/N doesn’t,” Eric said, already regretting hurting his best friend. “I know Y/N loves you, just like you love them, but I’m saying Y/N might not have had a choice.” He sighed, as she just grew angrier and angrier. “You’ve been training for this whole year, and you’ve been obsessing over finding this.”
“Y/N’s waiting for me to find them,” Amber said, punching past Eric to the dummy. Eric flinched, and Amber felt a pang of guilt for a second, then she focused on you. You were waiting for Amber to find you. “I’m not going to stop now. I am going to find Y/N.” She glared at Eric. “Now you can stand there and blubber about how this isn’t healthy for me, or you can go home. You’re not distracting me from finding them.”
Eric sighed, shook his head, and walked out of what used to be Amber’s living room.
The day she lost you, it stands perfectly clear in Amber’s mind. The absolute terror she felt when those men came to take you from the café. Amber running after the car, needing to get to you. She remembered the determination she felt when she went to confront your father and get you back. She also remembered the sadness and the heartbreak that was on your face when you told her that she had to leave you now.
Amber remembered feeling the loss, not knowing how she was going to get along without you, but also knowing that she was going to rescue you. There was no way that she was going to allow your father to dictate who you were going to marry, not when you were meant to be with Amber.
The wedding announcement stared at Amber, causing her anger to boil over. The online announcement had a picture of you, one that Amber had taken a long time ago. You were smiling and the light in your eyes was because Amber had been making you laugh behind the phone. The picture of the man was someone that she didn’t know, but he was insignificant, unless he tried to stop Amber that is.
The wedding was in three days, at a church that Amber knew well. Amber had three days to convince you not to go through with the wedding. She had three days to remind you of what you meant to her, and what Amber meant to you. She had three days to get you to leave with her, and never come back, never answer to your father again.
She knew where you would be. If you needed to relax, if you were stressed and needed a break, then you needed one thing…a good book. You were going to be at the local library, and Amber was going to find you there.
With a nod, Amber took her keys, got into her car, and went to the library. She walked in, knowing where you were going to be. She walked to the young adult fantasy section, and there you were, sitting down, reading a book, with two big goons next to you. These men knew who she was, because the second they spotted Amber, they started the walk to her. Amber threw them a little smirk. She was no longer afraid of your father’s men. She knew how to protect herself, and you.
With a nod, to let them know that she saw them coming at her, Amber made her way to the bathroom. There was nobody there, and Amber thanked her lucky stars. She hid behind the door, and as soon as the door swung open, Amber pushed it hard. The man tumbled into the ladies’ room, and Amber stomped on his head twice, putting all the strength she could muster into the stomp. The other man walked in, and Amber cupped her hand, throat punching him hard. She felt his larynx collapse under her punch. As she pulled her hand back, she put all her force into the up swing, and punched him in the nose hard. Her other hand came up and punched him in the temple twice, and he went down next to his buddy. Amber grinned. Bet they hadn’t been expecting that.
Amber hurried out of the bathroom, and ran over to where you were. She pulled out the chair, sat down, startling you into turning in her direction. Your eyes widened, and she grinned at you, wanting so desperately to kiss you.
“What are you doing here? My dad’s men are going to come back any second,” you said, clearly still concerned over her. “You have to leave, now!”
“I’m not leaving without you,” Amber said, shaking her head. “You don’t’ have to worry about your dad’s men. I took care of them.”
“What?” you asked, clearly not expecting this from Amber either. “What do you mean?”
“They are knocked out in the women’s bathroom,” Amber answered proudly. “I’ve been preparing for this day since you left me.”
“Amber, I can’t go with you,” you said, tears in your eyes. “My father will not stop looking for me. And when he finds out that you were a part of this, he’s not going to stop looking for you. I need to marry Marcus.”
“Y/N—”
“What we had, I will always treasure it,” you said, putting your hands on Amber’s face. “But it’s over. I will never love anyone the way that I love you, believe that. But the truth is that I have got to do what my dad wants, so that you are safe.” A tear raced down your face, and Amber wanted to wipe it away. “I can’t stand the thought of something happening to you.”
“I’m not giving up on you,” Amber said, a fierceness in her voice that had everything to do with you. “I’m going to take you away.”
Amber looked at the church. There were so many cars outside, everyone was inside, and so were you. You were in your wedding dress. That moron, Marcus was in a tux and you two were probably exchanging vows now. Amber made up her mind and got out of her car. She took her fop and readied it to start the car as soon as she needed it.
With a deep breath, she pulled open the doors, drawing everyone’s attention. Your father growled, motioning to the two men that she had beat up in the library. They ran at her, and Amber smiled. The one with a broken nose came closer and she turned throwing her elbow back into his nose, rebreaking it. He screamed and fell to the floor. The other man came at her, and Amber threw her palm out, hitting his nose with the heel of her hand, breaking his nose. He fell to the floor too. Then Amber made it to you.
“I don’t care what your dad does or what he says. I’m not leaving without you, and I’m not letting you marry this idiot,” Amber said, holding her hand out. “I’m not scared. I can protect you. We can and will disappear. Now take my hand, and let’s get the hell out of here.”
You took her hand, her fingers closed over your hand firmly, and with a racing heart, she pulled you through the church and to the front doors.
“Y/N!” your dad bellowed, and you squeaked.
Amber didn’t let you go. She kept right on pulling you when you would have stopped, and then you were through the church doors. She pulled her fop out and turned on the car, all the while pulling you to the car. She let go, so that you could climb into the passenger’s side, and she climbed into the driver’s side. Before anybody could come out of the church, Amber was speeding down the street, heading to the meet up point she had with Eric. She would switch cars, and change into something appropriate, and then take you to Vegas.
She pulled into the store, driving around back, where Eric was waiting with a white SUV, filled with clothes, toiletries, and everything else they need to leave forever. Eric looked up as she pulled up, and Amber turned to look at her.
“Get out of the car, get into the SUV, I’ll be right there,” she said, nodding. She wanted to kiss you so badly, but she needed to make sure that you two were safe first. “I have to get some things from Eric, and then we can go.”
“Who is Eric?” you asked, your pretty brow furrowing in curiosity.
“A friend, someone who was there for me when I really needed someone,” Amber answered, opening the door.
“Wait, what? Amber,” you called.
“Baby, please get into the other car,” Amber said, getting frustrated. “We don’t have much time. I have to change, but I’ll explain everything when I get everything I need.”
Amber went and changed into a suit. When she came back, Eric handed her IDs, social security cards, birth certificates, money, bank cards, and bank account info. She heard the car door open as you got out of the car, and Eric smiled at you.
“I’m Y/N,” she heard you say next to her. “I hear you helped this crazy woman when she needed you.”
“Guilty,” he said, nodding. “I’m Eric, and I’m glad that you chose her instead of your fiancé. I don’t like to think about what she would have done if you hadn’t.”
“Baby, please get in the car,” she said, exasperated, and you smirked.
“Did you already forget that I don’t like being told what to do?” you asked, and she sighed.
“No, I didn’t,” Amber answered, closing her eyes, and pinching the bridge of her nose. “I was hoping that the urgency of us needing to speed away would give me some leeway though.”
“I’ll go then,” you answered, still smirking. “I’ll see you later, Eric.”
You got into the SUV, and Eric grinned at Amber. “I can see why you like her,” he said, nodding. “She’s going to drive you crazy.”
“But I’d rather have her crazy with me than with someone else,” Amber answered, and she sighed. “Is everything ready in Vegas?”
“Yes, and the plane to take you to Greece too,” Eric said, nodding again.
Amber nodded, hugged him, and then got into the SUV. They drove away, Amber pointing the car towards Vegas. You turned to look at her, and she kept her eyes on the road. She was not going to spoil the surprise as to where she was going to take you.
“Where are we going?” you asked.
“Somewhere,” Amber answered.
“You said you would tell me when you had everything you needed,” you countered, and Amber turned to look at you.
“I don’t’ have everything I need,” she answered. “But when we get there, and take care of business, I will have everything set, and I will tell you where we are going, ok?”
“Fine,” you said, and settled into the seat, turning away from her.
Amber smiled. You didn’t like surprises, and you didn’t like being kept in the dark, and she didn’t want you upset, but she wasn’t’ going to tell you. She reached out taking your hand in hers. She grinned, loving the feel of your hand in hers. She’d missed you all year long.
Amber pulled into the parking lot of the chapel in Vegas. You had dozed off at some point, and so she reached out and gently shook you awake. You moaned softly, making her smile, and then you stretched. You blinked awake, and then you looked over at her. Your answering smile brought butterflies to her stomach, but she had a mission to accomplish.
She went around to the other side of the car, opened the door, and helped you out of the car. You stretched, and when you moved in to give her a kiss, Amber shook her head. You pouted, suddenly wondering if something was up and she didn’t want you anymore.
She led you into the building quickly, before you could get a good look at where you were. A woman at the front smiled, and asked for your ID, and then she congratulated you and Amber when IDs were presented. Amber pulled you through, and that’s when you noticed. You were in a chapel, and the whole thing was decorated for weddings. You tried to pull Amber to a stop, but she pulled you right along.
“Amber!” you said, and she sighed.
“Baby, we don’t’ have time,” she said, looking back at you as she walked. “We have to get this done now, so that your dad can’t take you away.”
“You’re really going to marry me to keep me from my dad,” you said, sounding rather hurt and angry.
Amber stopped then, and turned to face you. “No,” she said, shaking her head. “I am marrying you because I love you, and being without you this past year has been the absolute worst feeling in my life, and I don’t’ want to go back to that.” She took in a deep breath and sighed. “Once we are safely away, I will propose and we can plan a proper wedding, but for now, I need to make sure that you are mine, and that nobody is going to take you away from me again.”
You smiled, looking down, and nodding your head. Amber finished pulling you to the front of the chapel. The officiant was smiling and waiting. Amber gave him a wad of cash, that had you wondering where she’d gotten it.
“I believe Eric talked to you,” Amber said, and the officiant nodded.
“Do you Amber Liu take Y/N Y/L/N to be your lawfully wedded spouse?” he asked.
“I do,” Amber answered without hesitation.
“Do you, Y/N Y/L/N take Amber Liu to be your lawfully wedded spouse?” he asked, and you looked at Amber.
“Are you sure?” you asked, knowing that this meant angering your father, the only person you were terrified of.
“I’ve never been more certain,” she answered, her eyes locking with yours. “You are my life and my future, no matter where we are.”
You smiled. “Then I do,” you answered, looking at the officiant.
“You’re married, now hurry up and get out of here,” he said, handing the certificate to Amber. “It has your real names, and the one under it has your fake ones. Hurry up and leave.”
Amber smiled, turned to look at you, and kissed you hard and passionately. “Once we get home, we’ll consummate this marriage, but until then, just know that I am so fucking in love with you.”
You were laughing and crying and nodding all at the same time. “I am so fucking in love with you too. I can’t believe you didn’t give up on me for a whole year.”
“Never,” she said, and then pulled you out of the church.
You stood outside of your balcony, the Mediterranean Sea visible from your house on the side of the mountain. The little Greek town that you and Amber lived in was picturesque and charming, and very old school. The people were sweet and loving and very hospitable. You had come to this little town in the dead of night two months ago, and that night, you and Amber had christened the house as yours. Then that night, you’d had to confess something to her. Your father had helped Marcus sleep with you, and you were pregnant, as a way to ensure that you would marry him. Amber had been pissed, but she had told you it was ok.
Now you stroked your bump of two months, barely a bump really, and sighed. You knew that you would have never forgotten Amber, because she’d been the one thing in your crazy life that you had chosen for yourself, but you had never guessed that she would never let you go. You were so happy and you knew it didn’t matter who came for you, you were safe with her.
“How are my two babies?” Amber’s voice asked, as she walked into the bedroom.
Your overalls did very little to hide the baby bump, and you turned to look at her. “We are just fine thanks,” you answered, and she came over to kiss your belly. “How are you?”
“Finding the inspiration I needed,” she answered, holding out a bag of money. “I was able to make some sales at work and Tula gave me a bonus.”
“Bless her,” you giggled.
Amber put the money in a jar, their child fund, and gestured with her chin to the beach. “Let’s go down there and walk the beach,” she said, holding her hand out to you, a ring matching yours catching your eye.
With a smile, you took her hand, accepting that there was nothing you would deny her ever again.
hi authornims i love your work and your story telling i was wondering if you would write a story with Amber Liu she's my favorite female idol ok thanks bye
Closed Doors
Arts classes, they sucked. Amber couldn’t draw. Amber and art were a terrible combination. However, it was one of the electives that she had to take with her bachelors in the arts program. She hated drawing, but she did love art, as long as someone else did it.
Walking out of art class, however, is where she first saw you. The breathtaking young student, with y/c hair, soft y/c eyes, and a gorgeous smile, was walking out of the library with your friends. They were laughing at something that you all were saying, and Amber was rather mesmerized. She fell head over heels, without knowing one thing about this person.
So, she had used her mad investigative skills, what her Latin-x friends called her chismosa charisma, to get all the information she could about you. Your name was Y/N, and this was your senior year at SOCAL. You was majoring in English, with a secondary certification to teach, and your family was filthy, stinking, ridiculously rich. Your father was a CEO of some international company that dealt with auto manufacturing, and it had just hit it really big in Korea, so those foreign cars weren’t so expensive anymore. Instead of taking business administration like your father had wanted you to, you had fought your own path, for your own career. And Amber was that much more infatuated with you.
One day, Amber gathered all of her failing courage, and when you were walking out of the library with your friends, she walked up group. “Accidentally,” she bumped into you, dropping your books, and your backpack. Amber gasped, and apologized over and over and over again. Your friends glared at you, and scoffed.
“Watch where you’re going, freak,” one of them said, and you immediately turned to glare at your friend.
“Hey, what the hell?” you snapped, catching your friend by surprise. “Don’t you talk to her like that. It was an accident, and it’s not like anybody was hurt.” You then pointed a finger at your friend, jabbing it into her shoulder. “And who the hell do you think you are to be insulting ANYBODY like that. You have no idea what is going on in her life for you to be such a bitch.”
Amber’s mouth dropped, as she stared at you, awe in her whole body. Because Amber was more on the androgynous side, she was constantly getting made fun of. Nobody had ever stood up for her that way. That’s it, she had to marry you.
“Who are you to talk to me like that?” your friend demanded, looking you up and down.
“Someone worth 50 times what you are,” you fired back. “You forget, sweetheart, I’m not the one that needs your friendship. Your daddy wants you to be my friend so that you can beg me for money when he loses everything. You think I don’t know who’s my friend for benefit and who genuinely wants to be my friend?”
The girl huffed, and turned away from them. Your other friends smiled, and nodded, and then walked away. You moved down to start picking up your books and papers. Amber quickly helped, and when you both stood up, Amber was blushing.
“It wasn’t an accident,” Amber said, giving you a sheepish smile. “I bumped into you on purpose.”
You smiled. “I didn’t drop my books because of you,” you answered, and Amber giggled.
“Will you have lunch with me on Saturday?” Amber asked, and you blushed.
“Yes,” she answered without hesitation. “But you would have to come to my house for lunch.” You took Amber’s hand, and wrote your address Amber’s palm.
Two years later, and with a very reluctant acceptance of your parents, you and Amber were together. You two were a very happy, very loving couple. Sometimes you stayed with Amber in her dorm room, and sometimes you would rent a hotel room and spend the night together there. You two never, however, stayed at your house. Even though your parents accepted the relationship, they weren’t giving their approval. Your father was convinced that this was a phase you were going through, and so it was ok for you two to date now, after all experimentation happened during college, but once that was over, the relationship was over.
You had told your father that you and Amber were in love, and you weren’t breaking up after college. So you two had been together for two years. Amber was watching you, who liked to sleep on your stomach. You were in Amber’s dorm room, early morning sun streaming into the room, engulfing you in an ethereal glow. Amber smiled, understanding that she was so in fucking love with you.
Amber leaned over, pressing her lips onto your bare shoulder, pressing her chest right onto your back, her hands down your arms. You hummed, making Amber smile against your shoulder. Amber’s lips kissed down your back, her hands caressing over your backside, making you moan softly.
“I’m so fucking in love with you,” Amber said, kissing her way back up your body. You turned onto your back, Amber hovering over you. “I love you, and it’s kind of scary how much I love you. I don’t think I’ll be able to function without you. Isn’t that scary?”
“Amber,” you said, running your fingers through Amber’s short, bed-tussled hair. “You got along well enough before me, you will get along just fine without me.”
Amber scooted back, looking down at ypu. “Why are you talking like we’re going to break up soon?”
“You know that my dad won’t let us last forever,” you answered, sitting up and scooting to press your back into the headboard. “You know that we’re lucky he hasn’t forced us to break up yet. You know that as much as I love you, and, to quote the cutest girlfriend ever, ‘I’m so fucking in love with you,’ you know that my dad is going to make us break up.”
“Hell no,” Amber said, shaking her head. She leaned into your body, resting her head on your chest. “I’m not letting you go.”
You giggled. “Let’s not even think about that right now,” you said, running your fingers up and down Amber’s back. “What do you say we go out on a date, maybe to the movies, and then to dinner.”
“Where?”
“Wherever you want, baby girl,” you said, kissing Amber’s nose as Amber looked up at you.
“Wherever,” Amber repeated, looking up at you. “Wherever I want?”
“Yes,” you answered, giggling.
“BOBA TEA!” Amber shouted, as she got up and headed to the bathroom.
You laughed. “FOOD AMBER!”
“Yes, that too!” Amber answered, poking her head out of the bathroom doorway. “Yes, but boba tea!”
Amber drank her second glass of boba green tea, and you smiled as you watched the absolute elation that was on Amber’s face as she drank. You ate your salad, and watched as Amber made a face at you. She shook her head, pointing her boba at the salad.
“You need real food. That rabbit food isn’t going to be enough to keep you well sustained, baby,” Amber said.
“I’ll have a bigger dinner,” you answered, nodding your head. “You drink your tea.”
A man stopped at the table then, his shadow overcasting their table. Both of you looked up, and you sighed. You closed your eyes, and reached out to pull Amber’s chair close to yours. Then you looked up at the man who had stopped by the table.
“Your father has told me to come and collect you,” he said, locking eyes with you. “Your father has said that three days away from home is too much. I am to take you home.”
“I can drive myself home, thank you very much,” you answered, and turned to look at Amber. Amber was terrified. Her eyes were big, and she was staring right at your father’s minion. You squeezed Amber’s hand, causing her to look at you. “You ready to go babe?” You turned back to your father’s minion. “Pay the tab, will you?”
“Your father said to bring you back,” he answered. “Whether it’s the hard way or the easy way it’s up to you. You are, however, coming back with me.”
You looked at him, and two pairs of hands grabbed Amber’s arms, holding her down. She screamed, calling your attention. You took two steps, when your father’s minion took you around the waist, and picked you up. You screamed, trying desperately to get to Amber, who was kicking and screaming, trying to get to you.
As the man put you in a nondescript black van, the other two men let Amber go, and rushed into the van too. Amber ran to the van, banging on the door, calling your name over and over. The van drove off, leaving Amber running after the van, sobbing and yelling your name. She screamed, and fell to her knees, sobbing in the middle of the street.
You were dragged into your father’s office, and shoved so you hit the desk your father was sitting behind. You gave your father a watery stare, sniffling, but refusing to sob in front of him. Your father stared right back at you, and sighed.
“You brought this on yourself,” he said, shaking his head. “Who told you to start a relationship with that woman? You have one job as my child. Your job is to marry into money, and produce an heir. THAT IS YOUR JOB!”
“I love her!” you shouted, shaking your head. “And if you think that I’m going to let you ruin my life you’re insane. That company is your business, NOT mine!”
“We can do this the easy way, or the hard way.” You stared at your father. “You love your girlfriend, then you better let her go. If you don’t want anything to happen to her, then you should walk away, now.”
“Don’t hurt her.”
“That choice is up to you.”
“Y/N!” Amber’s voice yelled through the house, making you look at the study door. You looked up at your father, and swallowed hard. “Y/N! Where the hell are you!”
You walked out of the study, tears falling down your face. Amber spotted you, and ran up to you, pulling her arms around you tightly. Once again, you swallowed hard, as you put your hands around her arms, and pulled her away. You stared right into Amber’s panicked eyes, and you swallowed hard.
“It’s that day,” you said, giving her a watery smile. “Today is the day, Amber.”
“No,” Amber said, trying to put her arms around you. “No. I’m not letting you go.”
“But I’m letting you go,” you answered, letting her go. “I’m asking you to leave, and to move on. Today is the day that we end things.”
“Why?” Amber sobbed.
“Because I have to,” you answered, nodding. “I have a job to do for this family, and I can’t do it if I’m involved with you. So this is goodbye.” You sobbed, and you looked down for a second, before you looked up at Amber again. “I love you. I am so fucking in love with you, and please don’t ever doubt that. Know that no matter what the hell happens, or what I go through after this, you are always going to be my soulmate, and I’m always going to love you, but you have to go.”
You let her go, and walked away from Amber. When she would have gone after you, your father’s men escorted Amber off the property. You walked up to your room, lied on your bed, and sobbed. Your heart broke, and you knew that you were never going to feel for anybody the way that you felt for Amber. You were destined to be miserable for the rest of your life.
You waited as long as you could for Amber to get home; once the food was cold and you had finished the bottle of wine on your own, you called it a night. She was busy, you knew this, but you missed having dinner with her every night. She did her best to be back to you to sleep by your side, but lately you had been waking up alone. It would be better, you reminded yourself, clearing the dishes and putting the leftovers in the fridge. You just had to make it through the awards and promotions and she would be all yours again. Your head was fuzzy from the wine, making you shuffle your way around the apartment. You heard keys in the door and suddenly became very brave from the alcohol. Amber walked in, dragging her feet from exhaustion. You confronted her, asking her why she hadn’t texted you to let you know she would be late. She sighed and told you she was sorry, taking her shoes off, heading to the bedroom to sleep. But your dumb drunk brain couldn’t understand that she was sincere and egged you on to fight. You scoffed and provoked her again, asking her if she even cared about you anymore. You crossed the line; she turned to look at you, hurt in her eyes. She was irritated that you were inebriated and didn’t know when to stop, but she was also very tired and not in the mood to be nice. She snapped at you, throwing your question back in your face: did you even care about her, since you weren’t supporting her for this award? You frowned and watched her leave again, confused and scared that you had just ruined everything.
Amber stayed with her friends the next few days, telling them it was just easier to get around the city since they lived closer, not disclosing that she had fought with you. You had texted her the next morning, telling her that you were sorry and didn’t mean it, but she didn’t have time to properly talk to you. She was going to be out of town for these upcoming awards, and because of work, you couldn’t be there. You wanted to go with her because it meant a lot to both of you, and you were upset that you weren’t able to explain yourself. It wasn’t going to do any good to try to resolve this over the phone; you were humiliated that it had happened at all in the first place. Work was hard to focus on knowing she wouldn’t be there when you went home. Your boss asked you why you looked pale and you lied and said you weren’t feeling well. You didn’t think they were going to believe you, but surprisingly enough, they did, and told you to go home: you weren’t going to be helpful in this state anyway. Surprised, you made sure you heard them right, and they confirmed that yes, you needed a break. You burst into tears at the chance to go to Amber and make up, thanking your boss and dashing home. This was like a dream, you couldn’t believe it! You were packing when you felt a tap on your shoulder...and you woke up at your desk, paper stuck to your face. You apologized and kept working, feeling melancholy.
After three long days alone, she came home to you. You anxiously awaited her, wringing your hands together, tapping your feet. When she came in, it was like she was seeing you the same way she did that night. She was wary, unsure of what to say. You apologized first. That helped. She smiled at you and moved to sit next to you, putting an arm around your shoulders and kissing your head. You sat for a moment with your heads together, until she spoke quietly, “I won, you know.” You looked at her to see if she was kidding, but she wasn’t, and you hugged her tightly, congratulating her through laughter. You exchanged various “I missed yous” and “I’m sorrys” between kisses and a few tears. She promised to be home more often, and to whisk you away on her next trip, your boss be damned. You promised to not drink a whole bottle of wine by yourself next time, which made her laugh. She was impressed you had accomplished that, she just didn’t care for the end result. The two of you stayed up late into the night, talking and laughing, putting it all behind you.
