Chiapas Amber plugs available in 6.5mm, 8mm, 9.5mm, 11mm & 12.5mm. So comfortable and light weight! #amberplugs
I finished up these beautiful 26mm Chiapas amber flowers this morning. One of my old favorite styles to carve, and my favorite material to carve it in. I don’t think I could ever get tired of carving amber.
I received a much anticipated parcel of amber today, fresh from Chiapas. Among other various gorgeous large pieces of raw amber, and small pieces with insect and botanical inclusions, was this 25 million year old spider.
Insect inclusions themselves are rare, and flies, ants, and small wasps make up the bulk of what I have seen over the last ~10 years of working with amber. This is the first time I've been able to snag a piece with a well formed, clearly visible spider. No plans on what to do with it yet, but it will end up in a piece of jewelry one way or another. I prefer to see specimens worn in public rather than sitting on a shelf in a collection.
Little amber blings. 9mm single-flared Chiapas amber conch plugs with 'faceted' hexagon faces to match a pair of honeycomb ear weights.
