Pada April lalu, sumber kod Android P beta untuk Pixel 2 memperlihatkan sokongan menetapkan gambar latar pada mod ambient display. Terkini, di dalam AOSP Android 9 Pie – fungsi ini telah disahkan.

Walau bagaimanapun, menetapkan gambar latar pada mod ambient display tidak boleh digunakan pada Pixel 2016 atau juga Pixel 2. Tetapi di dalam barisan kod AOSP Android 9 Pie – fungsi ini ternyata ada. Kini tinggal para pembangun untuk mengkaji jika mereka boleh mengaktifkan mod ini dan tawarkan melalui custom ROM atau pengubahsuaian melalui root Magisk.

Berkemungkinan besar, fungsi ini adalah eksklusif untuk Pixel 3. Kerana Pixel 3 dilaporkan masih lagi menggunakan panel skrin jenis OLED. Jadi ciri atau fungsi tambahan pada mod ambient display, tidak akan menjejaskan penggunaan bateri yang serius.

Boleh jadi, jika selepas Pixel 3 diumumkan – Google mungkin akan tawarkan kemaskini untuk peranti Pixel yang lain.
