We close out our features tonight with a blast from the past, one that left me tingling with excitement earlier today. Major Lazer’s Get Free, featuring Amber Coffman, is still my all time favorite song from the American electronic veterans. Now that Major Lazer has dropped a career spanning ‘Major Lazer Essentials’ compilation, a remix of the well loved track has surfaced, crafted by none other than Jeremy Malvin, aka Chrome Sparks. He brings his dreamy luster and warped swirling synths to the song with a truly chromatic edit. It’s a beautifully surreal and spacey intoxicating new look for Get Free that wraps you in its whorls and engulfs you into its psychotropic soundscape, where you want to stay forever, riding iopalescent waves, diving beneath cascading ripples.
The remix will also be available on this Friday’s extended release of Major Lazer’s classic albums Free the Universe and Peace Is the Mission Extended. The new releases will also include additional remixes that have never before released on DSPs. Major Lazer Essentials is available now, here.
