“That’s...fair.” she smiled, knowing she had to elaborate. “The way you stepped up today, you surprised me. Made me very proud to have you as my right hand, crisis averted guy.” there’s a chuckle, before Zoey looks down, feeling her emotions once again start to take over her without her permission. She was really hating not having a better handle of it. Eyes started to well up, as she looked at Leif again. 

Working while still feeling this immense hole in heart was something she never knew she would have to work through. Turns out she couldn’t just analyze and rationalize it away. It was making everything worse, and the last thing she wanted was to alienate the people that were making an effort to make things easier for her.  

“I’m sorry I’m getting emotional with you right now. But I just wanted to tell you I do appreciate what you’ve been doing here. And I should probably give you more credit for it, than yelling when something is done wrong.” fingers brush both her eyes as she takes a breath to pull herself together. “I promise I’ll be better at this.”

PSYCH SENTENCE STARTERS

Surprised brown eyes blink back in quick succession. That--couldn't be true, could it? His mouth opens to protest, but quickly closes. A millisecond of flashbacks burst through. Scenarios of previous meetings all through grade school and college. A tendency of oversharing seemingly appearing as the common denominator for them all. A wave of guilt washes over him, but he tries to slick his way out, only slightly acknowledging it might be true.

“That can’t be true for all of them, can it? --‘Sides why would you want them in your corner anyway? If they scare easy.” Yes, diversion. Not always the best tactic, but the safer approach. He licks his lips, bringing his hands up, eyes trying to show a truce. “Look bro, I promise I’ll be different this time around.”
