D’you mean Chad and Ryan (although I think their relationship was just in the actual stage musicals or smth)? Because one of those is Sharpay’s brother and the other one hangs out with Troy...

So I guess that’s a solid Romeo for Troy. But it also solidifies Sharpay as Paris except for her being into Troy as well.

I do think there’s a girl who kinda hangs out with/looks after Gabriella later which could be a reference to the Nurse?

If one was really overthinking things.

no, you're definitely right, a relationship shouldn't be defined in terms of straight or queer or whatever, it's people who are, and it makes no sense? but then I've seen people argue that queer can englobe fetish and things like that...

It’s just so... well, I appreciate the effort and stuff, but when all is said and done, it feels weirdly alien.

Like, my cousin’s a farmer and a Catholic and very much not into politics or progressive ideas of anything, and her response to me coming out was essentially ‘you’re a good worker, the kids like you, you’re family. You’ll always be welcome and accepted here’. And maybe that’s all wrong politically, but that’s the kind of reaction I want to achieve. Being accepted not because of my sexual orientation, and neither in spite of it, but regardless of it.

And this whole thing about queering straight relationships does the exact opposite, and it’s hella annoying. I am queer, fair enough, but first and foremost I am human, and I am just like everyone else in that regard. There doesn’t need to be special queer relationship definitions. There needs to be a discourse about all relationships, regardless of the people involved, about how to have fulfilling, safe, equal, and happy relationships. Who cares whether those relationships are queer or not, that’s not the point!

and then you say "two bi people in a "straight" relationship, or ace people of different genders together, are definitely queer" and people laugh at you like "nope sorry you're too straight for the community" but then they'll accept that *sigh*

*shrugs* I’m not too sure like. Classifying relationships as queer seems like such a weird thing to me? Like, what. No. That is not what that word means. Applying it to describe the people in that relationship, fair enough. But the relationship itself? Why? What’s that even mean?

Of course LGBTQ+ people in a male/female relationship are still members of the LGBTQ+ community, but... they’re still in a male/female relationship? Like, that’s not shameful or weird or something, that just is? I find it rather disturbing, actually, that desire to classify a relationship as queer, as though that meant anything, or as though that’d make people involved in that relationship somehow more betterer or progressive or something.

Like, it’s an abstract concept! It doesn’t have a sexual orientation! Like, stop acting like saying ‘I read this male/female relationship as queer’ means anything at all! It doesn’t! You might as well read it as green or chocolate-flavoured for all the information that gives!

Oh man, it's just the worst. Actually I saw a post earlier today where a totally straight relationship is characterised as queer because it fiddles with accepted gender norms (it may have been the same one) and, NOPE!

It was about Mad Max? And I just... look, yes, I’m glad that there’s a cool feminist action movie and all, but. As a queer guy, a lot of the discourse really ticks me off, because it’s really lacking in nuance and often just sort of absentmindedly dismissive, and then having someone say a thing like that is just *low growling*

you could always watch a revue if not (they're my go-to when I want glitter but not sads because shows are never safe)

I really struggle with revues though because I’m so bad at faces ;_; like even in the finales of shows I’ll start getting mixed up as soon as the actresses change their hairstyle from their characters’ orz

Sometime I should stream a revue so I can just be like ‘okay who’s that’ the whole time...

idk, depends of the context, I mean I'm not sure it's historically accurate to use that but I'd say papi for grandad and mamie for grandma. it's on the same level as mom/dad in english, and it's close to maman/papa so kids pick it up easy.

Well, Lulu is definitely atrociously spoilt so perhaps she could get away with it?

nono, Lulu is French. Well, we use it in French as a nickname for Louise. Or Ludivine.

Ah, okay! Baby name sites are a bit less reliable when it comes to derivatives and nicknames and such. Would it just be spelled Lulu then?
