So disappointed in TN......
just reminding all you tennesseeans to please vote no on amendment 1 in the election on november 4th and protect your rights
Long time, no see
I decided to write a post, after a long absence, on just whatever floats out of my brain. To my followers (all 13 or so of you), your supernatural fan gifs, avengers gifs (which I still haven't seen), and other things which made me laugh, thank you. I also want you to know that I browsed regularly, and felt your pain when you had it.
I connect with people, with people I don't know, and feel what they feel. When someone airs out their disappointment with friends or family, I feel it. I feel it because I know what it is to be abandoned and betrayed by the people in whom you are alleged to trust because they gave you life. I know what it means to open up your heart, and have it burned out of you. I know what it is to feel the loss of loved ones.
I know, and I want you to know that I know.
I invite anyone who wants to email me. I'm going to set up a separate account for blogging, so that you can check it out, and I'm probably going to start this one over. You may have friends you can talk to. I have friends I can talk to, but there is something comforting about pouring out your emotions anonymously that makes you feel better. I started the day feeling like shite, and am already improving. The email will be direct messaged to my followers, and posted on the first post of the new blog.
I leave you with this, and here is my paradox. Sometimes I wish, like Sheldon, House, and others, that I just didn't care or could afford to not care. My problem is that I care too damn much. I don't live in NC anymore, haven't in a very long time (3 years), but I wept for people who lost even more when Amendment One was signed. We crossed NC off of our "places to live" list. Not because of the Amendment, but the fact that it was on the books already, and now it's an amendment, which takes so much more to repeal, and based on the voting, will never be repealed. I weep now, because my daughter has to grow up there. I am a heterosexual male, in a sometimes open marriage, and I have no issue with gay rights. But I wept for the people who will now never see the beauty that is my home state, because of a few homophobic fanatic assholes.
And so, to reflect my true sentiments, I leave you with this.
Valerie: But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that even though I do not know you, and even though I may not meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you: I love you.
With all my heart.
I love you.
See you on the flip side.
Queer Ass Folk? Amendment One
Churches Media Politicians I see you been drinking But I am sober I see you been smoking But I'm sober Unable to get that High off life Low energy of days No vitamin can cure People always got questions That are formed suggestions Disguised opinions Religion becomes Dressed in the "Drag" Of pity Which is translated with skimmed Bible footnotes Of "they are all going to hell!" threats When they themselves Are afraid to come out Of the closet And be an individual that is Nsync As opposed to being categorized They always want to Judge but never wanna be a... I'm trying not to be so negative about this North Carolina thing.
But it's just so hard not to take it personally. For people to be taking away anyone's rights in the name of the fucking Bible? It's just bullshit. It's all bullshit.
I would just like to go ahead and state that the fact that North Carolina passed Amendment One reflects the hideous nature of people who are too ignorant to open their mind to other people's situations. If you do not approve of gay marriage, then don't marry a gay person. Don't strip someone's right to marry simply because you have decided to shield your own beliefs with what you believe Christianity is meant to teach. If you think that being hateful makes you a Christian you are highly mistaken.
Southern and Christian are not synonyms for ignorant, so when you choose to defend your belief that gays shouldn't marry, attempt to do it without using those two words. Then what are you left with?

i'm having a shit festival on twitter over amendment one in north carolina.
My best friend in North Carolina is a gay Christian.
She has recently been disowned from her parents.
She pays for her own college education.
She had to reconcile her religion with her love. That's a breaking sentence.
She has never been anything less than amazingly brave.
Tonight, she decorated her school stuff with rainbows. She used to be the girl in high school everyone would think was the straightest, most Christian, most prudish girl at the school. Tonight, she's brave, and full of love.
I just want to say that I'm really, really proud of my best friend.
