American Dipper
I recall that I was in Colorado when I saw this wonderful little bird.

American Dippers are North America’s only aquatic songbird, with unique adaptations such as extra oxygen-carrying blood for very cold water, a nasal flap to prevent water inhalation, and waterproof feathers, to name a few.⠀ ⠀ 📷: Steve DuBois/Audubon Photography Awards

American dipper. . The most cheerful little bird. Well, at least I interpret it's behavior as cheerful. I don't really know. I'm not a bird psychologist. I'm not really even a human psychologist. By that I mean that I'm not really human. And also that I haven't finished my doctorate in psychology and even if I do finish it, I'm not THAT kind. . Still, I think there are two sets of human interpretations of animal behaviors. One is actually understanding their internal state, the other is memes and crap. They do something that reminds of us something human. In this case the bird sort of bounces and that seems like a human thing. Cuz people typically bounce when they're happy. And chirp like a bird. Well, I guess people isn't too happy, then. I don't think I ever saw human bounce and chirp like a bird. . I like to suggest that these captions are "prought to you by..." But I literally think IG will ban me if I do that again because they flag that phrase as sponsored content and they have some lies about advertising transparency as a reason, but really it's that they want paid ads for all sponsored content and don't want people marketing stuff on here without getting a piece of the action. . Disclaimer: Neither Instagram nor anyone affiliated with instagram ever bounce or chirp like a bird. . insincerely , The legal offices of Boredin.capitalism, psychology, and critical theory. . . . #dipper #americandipper #dippers #americandippers #birdworld #birds #birdwatchingphotography #birdphotos #birdsonearth #birdwatchers_daily #birdwatchersofinstagram #birdwatching (at United States) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNBpFiwABuF/?igshid=bytsx78436f7
The Shivers Standing in the frigid waters of the Lamar River and dwarfed by ice and snow 5 times thicker than it is tall an American Dipper is right at home. North America’s only aquatic songbird is at home in fast moving frozen streams and rivers. It scours the waters by probing its head below the surface, many times diving and flying through the water to the bottom of the stream. It preys on insect larvae and larval fish and eggs. Watching these extremely active birds at work can give even the most hardened winter warrior the shivers. #AmericanDipper www.danieldauria.com (at Yellowstone National Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8SCLBigcMx/?igshid=j3gmolml9uny
