💪🏽🐶 lets get to WERK! #Repost @ksrkennels_kassie ・・・ Weight pull is a controversial topic amongst animal lovers. Being that Bully Breeds are more attracted to the sport doesn't mean there are not plenty of other breed participating and winning! Although the bigger dogs do seem to excel. When it comes to weight pull, not everyone dog can do it. People think that you can force a dog to commit such stunts but majority of the handlers and dogs that weight pull actually have to go through extensive training and bonding to get a dog to pull on a track. The track is one directional and on rails and wheels and makes the weight easier to pull than one would imagine. The dogs have to be comfortable being around other dogs and in front of a cheering crowd while being able to focus on their owners commands. At this point dog and owner connect and pull the weight through cheering and working together as a team. The dog must be trained to pull and the owner must know when to start and stop their dog. NO handlers will make their dog pull something they cannot handle because the dogs usually let the handlers know. This is the only way to keep the dog comfortable with the track. So to people that think you can force a dog to weight pull, you cannot. Just like owning a Pitbull before you judge one, you should see weight pull done in person. The dogs enjoy it tremendously and you can really see the strong relationship between the dogs and owners. This is TUGLIFE!
