♚ Do you agree with fandom interpretation of your character?
Heh. Heheheh.
No not really.
Okay, I’ve been through like, every tag imaginable looking for things about Jessica Moore (btw: don’t go in the “jessica moore” tag unless you want to be spammed with porn that has nothing to do with adrianne palicki or samjess) and the fandom loves to portray Jess in two specific ways, that I’ve seen so far.
1) Jessica Lee Moore is made of sunshine and rainbows and there’s a pot of gold sitting at her feet at all times and she can do no wrong.
Ummm, no. Jess is just a regular, normal chick. She has some great qualities, like I believe she’s forgiving, understanding, eager to learn, etc. But she’s also very blunt, curses like a sailor, and can throw a mean right hook. She has heartbreak and angst in her past that she carried into her relationship with Sam, and I tend to believe even he paid for some of the transgressions of her most recent ex before him. I also believe she’s very indecisive and not so set-in-whatever-ways she was raised in. And she still, in her junior year of college, had not decided if she wanted to go forward in her major of pre-med or if she really would’ve rather stick to her passion in art. She will occasionally dabble in illegal activities (she’s not against a hit of E at a club tbh - as long as she has someone to take her home afterwards). And as much as she agrees with equality in all things, she’s grown up with Conservative views and sticks to her guns on many of them.
2) Jessica Lee Moore is a monster in the bedroom, a domme, who turned Sam into the fuck monster that he was back in the early seasons.
Again, haha no. In fact I don’t HC that Jess had that many sexual partners before Sam at all. She was raised Catholic, and sex before marriage is a big no-no, so not only was that looming over her head but I also don’t believe she was truly interested in sex until the very end of high school or the beginning of college. Jess was just one of those girls that decided to wait. And it paid off. She doesn’t regret having sex with the guy that took her virginity, even though at the time she wasn’t even dating him. He was her best friend who she’d grown up with, and as much as she hated admitting it to him, she just didn’t want to go to college a virgin (not that he minded helping her with that particular endeavor). When Jess met Sam she was a sophomore, had only had one semi-serious college boyfriend and a few hook ups under her belt. If anything, a lot of her experimentation happened with Sam rather than before him. Though one thing I do agree on is that she is/was a little more dominant in bed than Sam was, at least at first. It was just a part of her personality. She had to work on coaxing out of him the dirty talk and telling her what he liked. I fully support that headcanon.
Overall, I tend to look at Jess as more of a ‘real person’ rather than the plot point that the show seemed to have made her. I think she loved baseball, and that she tried out for her high school cheerleading squad but didn’t make the cut. I think she sucks at cleaning up after herself, but is highly skilled in cooking and baking, as she learned from her father. I don’t think she’s that great with kids; at least not ones that aren’t her own or ones that she’s been around for a substantial amount of time. I think she came from a small town, so moving onto such a large campus was extremely overwhelming for her for the first few weeks and she experienced her first panic attack trying to find her dorm building after a Welcome to Stanford party at 2 am. I think Jess absolutely hated her first dorm mate and, as quickly as she could, requested a new one for the following year. She loves birthdays, but always wished that hers was in the summer instead of in the winter. She’d wear flip flops year round if she could. She had her belly button pierced at 16 but forgot to take care of it and had to get it re-pierced at 18. She has three tattoos, all small but meaningful. And the moment she met Sam Winchester she knew her life would change forever, she just didn’t know how much.
