Adventures in Mental Health Care, ep. 1

Yesterday I snuck an appointnent to go to a new mental health provider. Three different interviews followed, the final with my "case manager." These folks are organized! During the final interview, I was asked if I had any relgious or cultural view points and if they could affect the effectiveness of therapy. I told the lady questioning me I was an "Areligious white girl." She fought back a giggle and typed "a religious white girl." I figure it'll be easier to clarify things with the shrink when I see them next month. >.>

When Ashley was seventeen, she was living on the street and some man tried to harass her and get him to sleep with her for food. He turned violent when she told him no. She stabbed and killed the man while trying to defend herself. She was never caught nor told a soul.

Ashley's drink has become so bad that she is a borderline alcoholic but it helps keep her dreams away.

Ashley believes in nothing. She thinks that if there was a god he wouldn't have taken her mother from and her father would have actually loved her. So, if you bring up religion to her she normally calms up and keeps her opinions to herself.
