Trial of words and worth made me feel happy. It is a retelling but I can't place it. The fairy tale mentioned in GR doesn't ring a bell to me but this kind of reminds me of some stories I read in 1001 Arabian night collection. I just love tales where the heroine saves the hero from curses or other misfortunes.
And this one has a very good character development. I really like it.
