Ever since that quiet morning, he's felt a little off. He's still going through each day, going to work, doing his chores, doing the little things he likes to do, but he doesn't feel... entirely there.
Vash had clearly taken notice. Maybe it was because today Wolfwood decided not to go to work, and he never misses work. His husband had managed to get him to the couch and have him sit his ass down while wrapped in a blanket while he took care of everything.
They ordered takeout from their favorite ramen place and Vash had gone out to retrieve it. They huddled together on the couch with the television on, his head on Vash's shoulder with Vash's arm around him.
And Vash never tried to pry, knew that if he did that Wolfwood would just withdraw further. If Wolfwood wants to talk, he'll talk, and he knows not to push it too hard.
He's so kind. Every day, he's so kind and gentle with him and tells him he loves him.
Eventually he's woken up from a nap and, after taking a few minutes to properly shake himself back into full alertness, pulled onto his feet with music playing from one of their phones. It's quiet. Just the music, their soft breathing. They don't speak. It's dark outside, and the snow mutes every other sound out there.
"Bein' awfully nice to me today," Wolfwood finally says from where he has his forehead against Vash's shoulder.
