Prayer Blog #4

My prayer shifts upon hearing that two have died in Charlottesville, VA. Hatred bears much bitter, deadly fruit: outrage provokes retaliation, reprisal provokes barbarity, vengeance provokes simmering grievance. Evil evolves. This is why so much human history involves tales of tragic cycles of violence, always justified by fear and a longing for “justice.”   

All of this puts to mind Paul’s words of introduction of the famous love Chapter of I Corinthians 13, “And now I will show you a more excellent way...”  My prayer is that God give us grace to rediscover the more excellent way of love.
