Breakfast MUFF - R U A Feminist
Listening to Boys Forever's (Patrick Doyle out of Veronica Falls among other bands) self-titled debut pretty much for a month non-stop I'd say this is the most infectious album since last year's Expert Alterations debut You Can't Always Be Liked. No matter how challenging times may have been, the Boys Forever album never fails to lift my spirits the very first seconds into each of the 10 melodious, upbeat tracks in spite of the much darker side revealed in the lyrics. The harmonies often remind me of the Beach Boys which makes me wonder if the name Boys Forever is a reference to their song 'Forever', even though Patrick Doyle explains here it stems from "feelings of unwillingness to grow up". Either way, this is very high on my list for albums of the year and I really wish I could go to this show in Glasgow supporting The Goon Sax at the end of the month... Listen/buy here.
