Assignment 1: Introduction

1. Who am I?

My name is Awanisa Rizkiyah. I am 27 years old and I am from Indonesia. I am from a city called Banjarmasin. Banjarmasin is the capital of South Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is located on a delta island near the junction of the Barito and Martapura rivers. As a result, Banjarmasin is sometimes referred to as the "River City" and “1000 Rivers”.

2. Why am I taking this course?

This is my first year as an Art and Science student at Queen University. I decided to take WRIT 240 Writing for Social Media and The Web because I am fascinated with the role social media has played in my generation particularly with the use of Instagram, Facebook, and blogs. Many times, I read successful blogs with many followers who were earning decent financial returns and I always wondered how they did it (https://problogger.com/make-money-blogging/). I would like to figure out what successful users of social media have done in order to become financially free to follow their passion and desires in life.

I hope by the end of this course that I would be able to write an effective attention-grabbing blog that my readers could gravitate to. I always wanted to create my own blog but I could never decide on a theme or topic to write about. I have bits and pieces of ideas circling around in my head, and hopefully by the time I complete this course I will be more confident with my writing and begin publish without hesitation.
