Over the Moon for a Shield

Star was a little upset over Ring's solid rejection of his affections, but he didn't want to give up so easily. Just one date. If he could get even a chance, he would feel more at peace with it. He took some time to change into his Christmas dress. He was going to wait until Christmas to actually wear it, but this clearly called for desperate measures. He headed out after carefully applying waterproof mascara. Waterproof because this might not end well and he wanted to at least look pretty as he tried not to cry and strutted away. Ring seemed to kind of tolerate him for the most part until he'd asked him out. This would be different though. This wouldn't be like Plant. He'd try as hard as he damn well could and get that one slim shot with Ring. True to his word, he strolled into the station asking for Ring clad in a bright red dress with fluffy white trim as was traditional for "Christmas" theme dresses and a red headband with a puff ball on each side of it.

That was about to change

Clown wasn’t normally the type to be invested in the lives of others aside from himself, but characteristics of Astro Man had always managed to arouse interest in him despite the two 8th numbers never having spoken more than a few words to one another.

His blue eyes followed his movements carefully, glinting with mischievousness as he took in the sight of him. Even the way he CARRIED himself was pathetic, hesitant and weak. He had to half-ask himself just what the hell everyone was thinking when they muttered amongst themselves about Astro's supposed 'incredible power' as he brazenly approached his target. 

"Well look who decided to come out of hiding!" He jeered, a devious smirk hanging on his lips as he delivered a none too friendly smack on the back of Astro's helmet in greeting when he arrived at his side. "Tell me, to what do we owe this pleasant surprise?"

Criminal Chase

Trash littered the street Ring Man walked. He had returned to the United States, downtown Monsteropolis to be exact, for a couple unsolved crimes. Weeks prior were spent watching the Cossack Citadel. It should have been a relieving change of pace to be away from the force, but wasn't. His younger brother was killed and he ultimately disappointed the mistrusting public.

But despite his apprehension and all the misery it stewed, it was never an option to turn down responsibility. Ever. Dr. Cossack would never have to acknowledge his son, and the humans in the department could continue to exhaust and exploit their finest robot.

Ring put his life on the line to protect a thankless world, one that owed him no dept.

He approached his destination, a rundown apartment complex. The bricks' hue was a faded rust compared to the bright red armor Ring wore. With the Stardroid attack fresh on his mind, it was difficult to focus on his current cases. One of them involved a series of human murders, but the only clue found was a security tape. Their prime suspect was Number-079, Nitro Man. This was the place he lived alongside Crash Man.

He entered the complex swiftly, visibly tense eyes scanned for the right room number under the directory.

According to other sources, Crash had also slipped into human society by posing as Drill Man. As a Cossackbot, this only further dragged Ring down into bitterness. It was a bitterness both inevitable and always stirred around in his mind by many things.

When he approached Nitro's door, his fist banged unforgivably against it. With evidence against the suspect and his past reputation, Ring was prepared for any outcome conceivable. "Robotic Police Force," he projected with strained professionalism, "I need you step outside."

Breaking News

"...So let's hear from specialized forces." On one of Monsteropolis' major streets stood a well dressed woman with a microphone. She held it up to Ring Man, a large camera marked with a channel news station watched over them.

For hours now, several fruitless attempts to control the fires had been made. The Monsteropolis County Police alone were unable to even approach Light Labs, and neither could the more specialized robot forces. The Cossack detective stands up tall, but not proud.

"I hate to be the one dishing bad news, but we've been doing everything we can to keep the city secure. Not a single man or machine can step close enough and investigate yet. One thing for sure is the RPF is not giving up and we will contain the situation. You'd think the government'll do more at this point, but don't quote me on that. Not my call."

Ring's strong and confident tone contrasts starkly with his darkened eyes. He tipped back the rim of his hat to make himself more visible to their audience. The reporter paused with hesitance before speaking again, clearly not liking what she heard. "And what about the extraterrestrial droids? With some of the world's best robots brought down, does this intimidate you or the police?"

He lied flatly, "No." That wasn't something you admit to the public, the people who put trust in others for protection.

As the live broadcast continued, Ring silently thought a lot about how much he failed not just the city but the whole planet. Fortunately, years of training has made him excellent at hiding his blunders. Wasn't that what the police were best at? It felt like it sometimes, and it's what's most wrong with this planet.

The worst part about seeking order and justice was knowing the enemies' good points.

Armed and dangerous

>Hey geeky! How about you stop handing out free gropings and work on something that matters for once.

Clown can't help grinning like a Cheshire cat as the transfer successfully goes through.

Though the message was only sent mere seconds ago, already Clown's face was twisting into a look of annoyance. The dated second number sure was taking his sweet time responding.

Words Fail Me. (@PROM)

Enker had turned a corner with Shade, found a scene he'd never though in all his long years he'd see. Tiny Light bots mugging Forte of his clothing, and leaving the very angry robot with a pile of discarded sailor suits. Even though Enker was hard pressed to say it out loud, Rock looked precious and ridiculous.

His hands itched to offer him aide, but he knew better then get involved this was a DLN matter, though once the group dispatched from their shrieking prey Enker knew it was time to strike. He knew Shade had a shit eating grin on his face about the whole mess, and seeing as Rock was not in trouble at all the RKN realized he'd been fooled! Drat that vampire and his clever ways. 

He moves along the walls and follows after Rock, trying his best to cut him off instead of being caught following him like the stalker he knew he was. Ugh, Makers damn him for having to work like this. The last thing he wanted was Rock to think him...odd. 

"Rock!" He calls when he finally spies the little blue bomber running with a pair of oversized trousers cinched tight around his thin waist. An his adorable sailor shirt, he looked silly. "Wait! I need to speak with you...I will not take up much of your time." He promises.

It was July 27th, 20XX.

As the evening progressed, Dr. Light and Dr. Cossack's Labor Day Formal had taken a violent turn into chaos. Despite Ring Man's best efforts, the police force were unable to keep out Wily Numbers. (They were unable to keep out the spacedroids either. However, nothing could stop Angry Space Gods™.) En masse, they all slipped past security and invaded the party. The grand mastermind behind it all — these wretched units' creator and father — Dr. Wily seemingly waltzed in and made himself comfortable.

Ring, twisted with regret and failure, had began storming through the place in rage. The detective spewed countless orders off to his underlings, his teeth and fists equally clenched. If one thing was certain, someone was losing their badge that night. It was only a matter of whose badge it was. (The chances were unlikely to be his, as Ring Man was an upstanding citizen and a very efficient detective to boot. It didn't stop him from thinking about it.)

After sending off the last Fake Men unit, Ring's back met a wall. He let out a groan and some discouraging words of Russian to himself. "...What went wrong, what went wrong? Черт возьми..." He muttered with closed eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. His own list of priorities grew to a copious amount. Not not to be overwhelmed easily, even the hardened cop felt exhausted. He couldn't help but wonder what his father was doing.

His father...

As if a light went off, he bolted off to make a run for the bar. When Dr. Cossack was down, it was difficult to avoid a drink. Ring knew all about his family's drinking problems, and expected only the worst tonight. It was an agreement among Cossackbots to never allow their dad near a drop of vodka.

So it Begins.

What Light meant about prying was grabbing Blues by his collar and pulling him out of the car, because Blues certainly wasn't going to get out via his own power and legs. Somehow his sunglasses have returned to his face. A pair of 500 dollar looking shades that gleamed in the evening lights of the palace. 

Once inside all he could do was stand there with his brothers and sister. Feeling dumb, and ashamed. They were exposed and he did everything he could to pull his shorts down a little as he turned to his brothers and sister. 

"This sucks, this is the worst dance ever. And trust me, I've been to some pretty crappy conventions." He grumbles.
