This is honestly my favorite Amy and Maxine scene of the series. I die laughing every time.

when the Gilmore girls and judging Amy both were on the air,way before I knew the term fan-fiction, my mother and I would make up stories about Emily running into Maxine at some function helping foster kids or Lorelai meeting Amy through friends.

Amy and Maxine’s mother-daughter relationship is so interesting. It’s like sometimes they’re mother-daughter, sometimes they’re friends, sometimes (a lot of times) they clash. Sometimes one will be mad at the other but they put it aside if the other is having a tough time with something. We do find out that Amy resents Maxine for a number of things when she was growing up, but their time of living together during the span of the show adds more layers and nuances to their relationship that are really interesting to watch.

I like Amy a lot in season 4. I liked her a lot in season 1 and most of season 2, too, but in season 3 she was kind of awful. I’m glad she’s likeable again. But she still has those tendencies to make things about herself that aren’t about her. And her resistance to Maxine getting married is real weird and I wish she wouldn’t be so loud about her disapproval and just pretend to be happy for her mother. I don’t like Maxine’s fiancé, though, but he treats Maxine well and she loves him, so Amy should just be supportive.

Maxine seems reluctant af about marrying him tho anyway, and I don’t think it’s completely because Amy is so weird about it.

I am sure something is going to happen and they’re not going to get married because supposedly they’re planning on going to China long-term for his business, but #1 she’s just as much of a main character as Amy is, and #2 IMDB lists her as being in every episode.
