Someone at Burke Manor wanted to make sure this reached you.
Amycus had wandered outside for a break. Just a moment alone to breathe in the night air and appreciate the view. He had forgotten that he wasn't the type of man who could be calmed by fresh air. He needed action, something to get his blood pumping, his adrenaline surging. So he did what he always did when he felt caged in.
He reached for his wand.
And found a sealed letter someone had slipped in his pocket.
Intrigued, he was quick to rip it open. It wouldn't be the first time someone had tried to slip him a covert message. Perhaps an invitation to meet somewhere for a scandalous distraction, or instructions on some sinister plan - he would welcome either, to break up the boredom.
Instead what the found felt like a threat. "What the fuck is this?!" He asked out loud, as if the culprit may burst from a bush and reveal themselves.
Of course he knew his sister. Better than anyone. Better than himself. It was a ridiculous question.
But... A treacherous voice in his head whispered, hasn't she been acting strange? Hiding things from you, hiding her feelings?
He had known Alecto better than he knew himself. He was scared that may no longer be the case.
And he was terrified that someone might know that, know what the treacherous part of him had been thinking. That knowledge, existing outside of his head, may be the most dangerous thing of all.
