One thing that bugs me as someone who makes patterns in AC is that if you don't post *one* thing, you get hounded about it off-and-on forever. I guess it gets tiring because I feel like I've been pretty generous with sharing my patterns over the years, dedicated a lot of time not just to make them, but also to make sure many were shared on my social media. But the voices louder than the thanks for doing that, are from the people asking you for stuff you haven't posted.
Another thing that bugs me about it is I'm a whole person, I'm not just a screen or a robot who makes and shares this stuff. I have a job, hobbies I rarely get to, pets, exercise and sleep I don't get enough of, current projects I'm excited about dedicating my time to in my limited free time, and all that jazz- just like anyone else. In my view, unless you tip or pay for it (and I will be more open to this request probably if you've supported me in that way!), I don't really owe you my time to go and dig patterns out from Wild World or New Leaf, by trying to figure out the last day I played in various old towns and go to the appropriate screens (many, many screens in some cases, for patterns with lots of pieces). When I could be doing something else.
If people ask nicely I don't really mind at all (answering that I might be busy right now but I might get to it one day!), but getting hounded about it almost makes me *not* want to do it or feel resentful about it. And part of it's the overall pattern of the questions becoming tiresome as time goes on, the repetitive questions even about WIPs that I'm excited to share but aren't ready to be shared yet. I guess I need to chill about it but just wanted to get it off my chest and kind of contribute to the awareness that people who make patterns are people! Try to respect their time! And keep in mind that pattern-making can be pretty time-consuming for some. It may not be perceived as true art or whatever, but a multi-piece path can be about as time-consuming as an art piece sometimes. If someone wants to keep a path to themeselves or prioritize other things above sharing it, try to respect that as the right of the person who took the time to make it! ❤
