Shikamaru & Mitomi in a modern AU, are essentially just hyper intelligent teen parents- please enjoy these scribbles

I think Shikamaru is in college to be a civil engineer or something along that line, Mitomi still immunocompromised and does school online while taking care of their daughter Kana, they live in a small two bedroom apartment that Minato and Shikaku front the rent for so their kids can focus on being in school and being good parents

Minato is the owner and head runner(ceo, cfo, coo type thing) of an innovation company, possibly tech related but might be medical, Kushina is an artist

Shikaku’s modern job is still undecided but it is between these three options, university teacher(probably history), pharmacist, or a doctor who works in specialized medicine and diagnostics- Yoshino is a nurse practitioner

Naruto is in school getting a degree in elementary education and plans to teach art, he is his mothers son

Both Minato and Shikaku did military time before they had kids

Mitomi's heart surgery scar is an ode to the fact that in an elephant's memory she was stabbed through the chest by Orochimaru during the chunin exams, and has that same scare after barely escaping with her life - for the sake of the modern au she likely had kawasaki's disease as a child, she's a very sick kid yall, idk what to say

is stuck listening to her father yap about his latest idea while she watches shikamaru and kana play - she's half listening and it doesn't matter to minato too much he just needs to think out loud and mitomi if it interest her will engage with his thoughts - she's a very smart girl

Ino bought that water bottle for toddler Kana, as she is trying to be the favorite aunt (she's winning because she's Kana's godmom but it is what it is)

Third Times the Charm

Everything here is so different and she hates it. Why couldn’t she have just been able to be at peace and rest? It’s not hate, but it is a near thing, it’s something so deeply ingrained into who she became… Mitomi can’t just let it go because of the differences now. The choices Minato and Kushina made in two lives haunt her. It’s because of their actions that she ended up so bad off in her first life, why she had to relive it a second time. ~~~ In which revelations are had and healing begins
