13. A writing tip I always follow:
There's a lot of writing advice I ignore, but I think the stuff I try to keep in mind (emphasis on try) is stuff like the usage of adverbs (I tend to use them too much and too inappropriately when telling myself the story) and being mindful of sentence length and variety, mixing it up so there are longer sentences and shorter, etc.
However, I am a very flow state type of writer, and a lot of whatever I'm doing tends to happen subconsciously, so if there's any other advice I'm following it's certainly nothing I am aware of!
22. Certain types of writing I won't do:
Never say never, but as much as I enjoy reading darker stories, I have trouble putting my characters in heavier situations. Despite how much I want to, I just have a hard time imagining and getting it down. (Especially because I also get nervous about audience reaction if I did decide to make something a little depraved.)
37. How do I choose where to end a chapter:
I have been told that my endings leave a lot to be desired, but stories and chapters are done when I have nothing further to say on that matter.
In Tyrants, I arranged it so that three to five scenes/POVs happen per chapter, wherein with FNE (which I wrote more discovery) the chapters were blocked out mainly by their word count. So, if I got close to the 10k word count goal, I ended the chapter. There were a few that overshot and undershot, but that was mainly due to wanting to finish the scenes with enough air for them to breathe.
