I'm a writer of fanfiction and original fiction, but I've also dabbled a bit in poetry (I've published 4 poetry books so far!).

Yes you can write that fic. No, people won't think it's "poorly written." You are among people who came here to seek out cringe. They are waiting for your work, and no one else will make it like you do.

It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to have every plot line done. It doesn't have to be relatable or trendy either, or sanitized, or super original so that it reaches the most people. You just have to enjoy writing it. That's it. ,:>

Writing is not about fame. It is about making art. It is about becoming. You are expressing yourself. And that's awesome.

Your dialogue is stiff because everyone is being too honest

Great dialogue can come from radical emotional honesty. But in most real conversations, people

dodge questions

answer indirectly

lie (badly)

change the subject

crack jokes to avoid serious answers

lie (convincingly)

say half of what they mean

tell the truth but get so anxious/angry/defensive others now think they're lying

If your dialogue feels unnatural, it might be because everyone is saying exactly what they think, or articulating their thoughts too well. Try letting characters hide things instead.

Subtext is where tension lives.

Most important writing advice of the day is to fuck around. Stop writing to appeal others. Stop thinking you know what other people like. The only thing you know is what you like so write that shit, brain-fried scene. The right people will like it and the others you're worrying about don't exist in the realm of your creation process.
